2012 Great Race Completed!

Roadhouse Tunica does have a sports bar at the edge of the casino. Several large flat screens. Probably your best bet for football.

Had an event cancel on Friday so took off on a 4.5hr drive to Tunica visiting for the first time...a few notes:

1) in the Harrahs casino, two kiosks are located next to each other right in the center of the casino next to a car they are giving away for a separate promotion...no staff members are in sight

2) we stayed in the casino hotel. the other options are in the same complex but, you have to take a shuttle to the larger casino...it ddn't look like too much of a hassle

3) surprised to find few VP options just as the case at Metropolis and S Indiana...I guess we are just used to Vegas. No triple play for anything higher than five cents. By options I mean not many machines...I'm sure they don't want to devote too much space to machines that you can actually win on.

4) payouts were decent so that was a pleasant surprise and we actually had some pretty good luck on 9/6

5) drinks are reasonably priced...staff very friendly

6) NOTE OF CAUTION: if coming from the north on I-55, you will be directed to exit at HWY 61. That takes you through S Memphis and, on that road, there is now a detour that takes you through some neighborhoods that, at best, might be avoided if you have the choice. One thing we learned after arrival is we googled the meaning of teddy bears tied up and down lamp posts. We discovered this is a spot where someone was murdered. On the detour, there was a post with the bears at about every other block. You can continue on I-55 and find another west crossroad to get back to HWY 61 nearer to Tunica.

7) Several of the restaurant options were closed on this Thursday night so we tried, for the first time, the Paula Dean buffet which actually was very good and worth the $20 (TR points of course). If you can avoid eating the bread you can actually have a reasonably balanced meal if you throw in a few vegetables. The lonliest guy in the hotel was the staff member responsible for refilling the salad stations.

8) Unlike Metropolis and S Indiana, we would actually go back to Tunica. This trip was at the last moment so we only stayed one night.
