3 MGM properties raising resort fee

https://www.casino.org/news/mgm-resorts-increasing-resort-fees-as-marriott-faces-lawsuit

Starting Aug 1:   Aria, Bellagio, and VDara will go from $39 to $45 a night

Its not like I stay at those joints anyway - but, DAMN !  At this pace the resort fees will eclipse the room price by the time I retire.

But at least the resort fees include the use of a notary public!! Cannot even begin to calculate how many times I've used a notary public while on a trip to Las Vegas...

Ha ha....exactly.

$6 a night increase.  If one were not averse to paying $39 a night, how much will that additional $6 a night (2-3 nights?) affect a decision to stay at the property, especially if one, like Don the Dentist, gets a tangible benefit with the Resort Fee?  I'm thinking Don was speaking (or typing), tongue in cheek, but for some this is a benefit.  What does a notary charge...used to be $2 back in the day.  LOL.

Now I am sounding like a RF apologist, which I am not.  Just sayin' there is always the exception.

Sort of like Southwest Vacations, which discounts flight (highest price) and hotel nights if flight is booked via Southwest Vacations.  One can total things up to see if it is a better deal than paying cheapest fare and being comped for the nights, and some food and Free Play, up front via an offer.   Haven't done the calculations lately, and can't remember if Resort Fee is waved when booking through Southwest Vacations.

Overall, "whatever the traffic will bear" is the business motto (any business).  $45 now, no doubt a test of...whatever the traffic will bear later.

As long as people are stupid enough to pay the rip off "resort fees", the bean counters will keep raising the fees. I have seen this very thing happen for YEARS. This just reaffirms just how stupisdthe average person really is.

Love Las Vegas, but  casinos are their own worse enemies. Common sensr seems to be out of style. A maverick Casino could make a ton $$ & make us Vegas regulars happy. When will it happen??

The TI will waive the fee for cardholders paying a casino rate if you ask.  They still have free parking.

Does MGM apply "resort fees" if your rooms are compd?

Umpire - the answer in my experience is "yes".  I have 4 nights comped next month and I still have resort fees.

Thanks, for the info. Caesars does not charge resort fees for a comp'd room. At least I don't get charged.

BTW, the Borgata(MGM property) in AC charges resort fees for comp'd rooms. Their charge is approximately $17 + $5 NJ tax.
