They've been having 75k tournaments almost monthly recently. We go to almost all of them (and we don't live in California or Arizona!). I have not heard about an August event yet, but in general, this is what you get:
- Can be held at any of the properties, most often Bally's, Flamingo, Harrah's, Rio, Caesars
- Accommodations (3 nights) at nearly all the CET hotels, sometimes including Caesars and Paris, sometimes not
- $50 in free slot play when you register, sometimes $75, $100, or more. Everybody gets the same amount. They say $50 but sometimes it is more.
- Day 1, register in the afternoon or evening. Day 2, late registration and 2 sessions of play. Day 3, third session of play. Prizes are announced at each property at 6:00 pm.
- At the end of Day 3 you swipe your card in the kioske (any property) to see what you have won, Then you go to the cashier (any property). The cashier looks you up, then gives you your free slot play documents/coupons.
- You check out of the hotel the next morning, but we sometimes leave the night before (after prizes).
- The top 400 people get in the money. This is huge. $50 - $100 is usually the lowest prize, depending on the total number of entrants. Sometimes they up all the prize money, AND the number of people who win to 600, if more than a certain minimum number of people (i.e., more) participate.
The best $75k tournaments are the Triple Slot Series in March, June, and September, which give extra gifts (usually sugar-laden snacks, like a miniature Bundt cake, Barry Manilow CD, etc.), and Great Gift Wrapup points.
There are also $75k video poker tournaments, same general rules with a little less hype and flourish.
These $75k tournaments are great. We've been doing them for years, and actually plan trips around them. The most we have won is $2,000 and $500. The least $0, most often (maybe) $50 or $100.
