Accepting mailed offers with only basic room types

My husband and I receive many, many mailed offers from CET. To accept these offers you have to stay in the basic rooms when we can be comped in much nicer rooms (he's diamond, I'm platinum) without booking under a particular offer.

Is it a good bet that we can be comped to the nicer rooms at check in? Don't want to run the risk of not having the room we want.
My experience, unless they are completely booked, they tend to give the nicer rooms to diamond player or to players that tend to have a higher daily average.
the mailers specify the room type?
The ones from Laughlin do.

The mailer does not state what type of room, but when you call to make a reservation they will only book you into a certain room if you want to accept the offer. For instance, if you want to participate in a slot tournament, you are only allowed to book the Deluxe room at Flamingo. If you try to book online, only the deluxe rooms "are available with this offer."
When I receive the offers I call a host with the offer code and ask for a suite.
I think thta works better than hoping the check in people will upgrade you.
Thanks for your responses. I'll just have to be a little more insistent when I call and ask for our usual room!
