Any recent Tahoe info?

Which DL(s) are open? Did they reopen the President's lounge?

Can you still take a ride on Harrah's boat? Comped at what level?

Anything new at Harveys or Harrahs?

What restaurant suggestions do you have for someone who isn't happy with the cafe?

Going end of month and I'm hoping they've made improvements since early last year.

Thanks for your input.

Headed up to Tahoe tomorrow for a couple of days and I will get a better idea of answers to your questions. Last time I was there, Presidents Lounge was open the last Saturday of each month. Both Harrahs and harveys have a DL on Friday-Sunday from 4-9. Personally I like Harveys the best because the food seems to stay out longer. Most of what they have are sandwich stuff, crunchy munchies and really good soup.

As far as restaurants, Harveys has five good ones: a deli that has great sandwiches, Cabo Wabo, the Hard Rock, XVIIII (Nineteen-located on the 19th floor) and the Sage Room.

Diamond and 7 stars qualify for a boat ride on the Lake and/or a couple of tickets to the Comedy Club. I will go on the web and research who is there when I am going and then catch an idea of the act on Utube- I tend to stay away from the ones with the most F-Bombs.

This year, there is a Great Summer series of Concerts including Bruno Mars, Eagles, Sammy Hagaar, Carrie Underwood and about six other really good acts. Nearby at Sand Harbor, the Shakespere (sp) play "As you Like It" is being presented. It's a great venue but it gets chilly, even in the summer months.

During the Summer several of the bars are closed during the midweek but they always have at least one open, so what more do you really need?

It ain't Vegas, but it's pretty damn nice up there!

Can't help you with the President's Lounge or the boat because I have not heard of either. I can help with food and diamond lounges.

Harvey's diamond lounge is open Friday through Sunday from 4 to 9. They have a very nice selection of food from 4 to 6: 2 soups, salad makings, cold cuts and cheeses for sandwiches, potato and/or pasta salad, etc. Can certainly make a meal of it if you don't want to do a restaurant. It's on the top floor with a fabulous view and you get there by a designated elevator. Pick up the phone next to it and Jeanne, the operator, picks you up.

Harrah's is open every day until 10. Opens at 11 on weekends but not sure about during the week. They have soup and a salad bar. Not terribly exciting. It's on the main floor in the high limit area so no view but quite comfortable. You use your player's card to access it but have to stop at total rewards first to get it activated.

The cafe at Harrah's is okay for breakfast. We have tried all the restaurants and our favorite is 19 Kitchen/Bar at Harvey's on the 19th floor. I'm hooked on their signature shrimp flatbread, which is really a pizza and considered an appetizer. I can eat maybe half and save the rest for breakfast (I like cold pizza). That is my dinner and it's $18 or you can use rc's or a food comp. After your meal they bring out a mound of pink cotton candy.

The Sage Room makes a good lobster bisque. We also found that the Straw Hat at Harvey's makes a much better sandwich than the cafe.

Tried to add pictures but can't figure out how.

I can help you with information on the Harrah's boat -- the Tahoe Star. Diamond holders get two tickets and Seven Stars get 4 per year. You might get additional based on availability and your host's power/discretion. But some weekends, they are fully booked (regardless of your Total Reward Card level) since there are only a few seats on the boat. If I were you I would call ahead a host and book BEFORE you arrive. Last week I called my host and was told that the only seats for Sat July 5th left was a 10:00 AM cruise - pick up at 9:30 am. I snagged it. You take a Harrah's shuttle bus in the Harrah's Lake Tahoe parking lot entrance near the Starbucks. The boat loads at Zephyr Cove then goes across to the "Viking House." Drinks are served on board. I enjoyed it before and look forward to it again.

Great info, just what I wanted. Now all I have to do is patiently wait for 3 weeks. That will be the hard part.
Hi Raisin7,

You should look up Sionow's trip report as he wrote about his Tahoe trip submitted on July 7th. The President's lounge has not reopened. However, we went to the Diamond Lounge at Harvey's in the afternoon and they had two types of soups, salads, fruit salad and beef or turkey sandwiches and is a close equivalent to the old President's lounge - just no carving station or as many seats. The Harvey's DL had a beautiful view of Lake Tahoe and is certainly is far superior to the claustrophobic DL at Harrah's. However, it is really hard to find the "golden door" elevator to the Harvey's Diamond lounge. An employee had to walk us to it at the Harvey's casino level near the stairs down to the underpass to Harrahs. You have to pick up the phone to get a ride up as the elevator has a old fashioned cage door which is unsafe to be self-operated.

Also when you check-in at the Diamond/Seven Stars desk, make sure to ask for soda or juices at that time (I believe that water is more generously handed out). I walked in to the Harvey's Diamond check in area the day after I checked in and was given some sodas but was told that it is available strictly during check-in. Allegedly I was given a break because of my charm and the fact that I drove in so late that the special check in area was closed.
