My wife and I checked into the IP/Quad (the people who work there don't seem to be sure what it is supposed to be called during the transition) on Dec. 7th for four nights. We had stayed there on our first trip to Las Vegas quite a few years ago and wanted to do so one more time before its demise - it turned out to be a very unwise choice.
The whole front part of the building is blocked off because of the construction, and the only way to get into the building from Las Vegas Boulevard is to walk through a tunnel that they've improvised in the construction area. Luckily we'd already been in Las Vegas for four days before checking in, or we'd have had to spend quite awhile trying to figure out how to reach the parking garage. There are two ways to do so, neither of which is easy - 1) from the Strip, enter Harrah's parking garage, go all the way through, and when exiting at the back make a right turn and then make another right into the IP parking garage; 2) from Koval Lane, follow the signs toward Harrah's, then continue past Harrah's and turn into the IP garage. The parking garage has never been easy to get around in and is much worse now because much of it is now blocked off because of the construction and getting to a parking spot was a real challenge.
The check-in line was incredibly long, and it took us more than 45 minutes to finally reach the counter - I doubt this is normally the case, but it was packed when we were there because of the rodeo and a boxing match on Saturday night.
Our room (we were booked into what was called a deluxe room, for whatever that's worth) was fairly large, with furniture that had been in it for far too many years - it was cheap, dated, and very worn - ditto for the carpet. The television was at least as old, very small, and barely worked. The worst part of the stay was the shower - it drained incredibly slowly, and took almost 13 minutes to fully empty after the water had been turned off (I'm a bit OCD and when I saw how slow it was I decided to time it). We reported this and were told it would be fixed; they did indeed work on it, but only managed to cut the drainage time to about half of what it was, with the water still getting ankle deep while showering. On a positive note, I thought the mattress was pretty comfortable. If they plan on refurbishing the rooms they haven't started on it at this time.
For people who like to collect used casino playing cards, they were selling IP ones at a really good price of 10 decks for a dollar in one of the shops in their shopping area.
