I know there is a lot of conflicting reports back from members here based on info they're receiving from CET corporate vs. the individual players clubs. I just read this entire post for the first time so I have no preconceived notions or experience.
We drove through Laughlin yesterday and stopped at Harrahs there. The swipe station is at the left end of the players club (assuming your facing it). I didn't see it at first so just went to the next available agent who happened to be the players club supervisor. She took my card, checked my ID and went to the kiosk to swipe. Unsolicited, she said that I was now "in" and that I wouldn't have to do this again....she said that at first there were conflicting reports but it's been clarified and is no longer a requirement.
If it makes you feel better and you're playing your own card, you might as well go to the players club or kiosk at each place if available and swipe. It might take a few minutes but it's likely safer. It's only in instances where you're helping someone out by playing on their card that this isn't possible.
Also, as part of my normal record keeping, I make a note on my phone that I email to myself that contains the date, machine number, game, and denom of the machine that I earned my point on. In this way, if it were to be an issue, I believe I can go back and support my claim that I've been to X properties on these dates, played these machines and earned these points.
It's funny since the two locations I've been at (Paris and Laughlin) seem to know that there's a distinct possiblity that the system can be taken advantage of but don't seem to mind. They go out of their way to tell you that you only need to earn 1 point at each property (market). I think it once again just goes to show you that casino marketing people aren't the sharpest tools in the shed. Being able to analyze and take advantage of a promo is yet another way of gaining an edge. Contrary what the naysayers say/believe, there are more of these than you can believe.....playing one now that's worth $500/day with less risk than dollar single line vp.
Good luck everyone....that Guy Savoy meal is going to taste pretty damn good for free!
