Anyone else planning to do The Great Race to Rewards?

Hey I won a $100 gift card on the online game so that's a nice little bonus.
Went to Harrahs Joliet today. Opted in at the total rewards booth (no kiosk). I have played the online game which is the link that is given for opting in online so not sure if it was necessary but better to be safe than sorry. I asked the TR rep. if I needed to opt in at each casino she said no only once and then earn at least 1 point in different locations.

She also told me I could check my progress online and gave me a little brochure. The only web address listed is the playtotalrewards.com
which is the online game. If it is there, I could not find the place to check my progress, just the badges which tell you nothing about casino visits.
getting a late start on the swipes------can help anyone who needs ac or chester----can do vegas and laughlin on my own------need help at all other venues-----pm me if we can help each other--

Would be nice to be able to track your progress.......

Its alot of points to be counting on a measly Scan at a kiosk.

Honestly, they need a better way to keep track..........Online.

My Great Race report:

Lake Tahoe:
Harrahs - swipe monitor is near the stage in the center of the casino. Its about 200 feet from the Total Rewards desk and around a corner. Obviously, you must do it yourself.

Harveys - swipe ia at the end of the Total rewards area. They have a small handout on the counter which explains the program in detail (nice to keep on hand).

Reno - Harrahs - swipe yourself in across from the Total Rewards desk. Same area as the multipler promo they had going on yesterday.

In all three locations the TR staff was very familiar with the program.

I know there is a lot of conflicting reports back from members here based on info they're receiving from CET corporate vs. the individual players clubs. I just read this entire post for the first time so I have no preconceived notions or experience.

We drove through Laughlin yesterday and stopped at Harrahs there. The swipe station is at the left end of the players club (assuming your facing it). I didn't see it at first so just went to the next available agent who happened to be the players club supervisor. She took my card, checked my ID and went to the kiosk to swipe. Unsolicited, she said that I was now "in" and that I wouldn't have to do this again....she said that at first there were conflicting reports but it's been clarified and is no longer a requirement.

If it makes you feel better and you're playing your own card, you might as well go to the players club or kiosk at each place if available and swipe. It might take a few minutes but it's likely safer. It's only in instances where you're helping someone out by playing on their card that this isn't possible.

Also, as part of my normal record keeping, I make a note on my phone that I email to myself that contains the date, machine number, game, and denom of the machine that I earned my point on. In this way, if it were to be an issue, I believe I can go back and support my claim that I've been to X properties on these dates, played these machines and earned these points.

It's funny since the two locations I've been at (Paris and Laughlin) seem to know that there's a distinct possiblity that the system can be taken advantage of but don't seem to mind. They go out of their way to tell you that you only need to earn 1 point at each property (market). I think it once again just goes to show you that casino marketing people aren't the sharpest tools in the shed. Being able to analyze and take advantage of a promo is yet another way of gaining an edge. Contrary what the naysayers say/believe, there are more of these than you can believe.....playing one now that's worth $500/day with less risk than dollar single line vp.

Good luck everyone....that Guy Savoy meal is going to taste pretty damn good for free!

I am very curious as to how this will all play out. How many people do you think CET has in it's Total Rewards database? 10 million? 100 million? More? Let's say that just 1 million TR members were able to swipe at 6 different properties. That would be $600 million in comps to dole out. I could easily see this promotion costing CET $1 Billion in comps. I don't see how they plan on recouping that when the requirements are just 1 tier point per casino.
Just spoke with Jose Garcia at Corporate Promotions. He verified that you only have to opt in once (online or by swiping at a kiosk), and earn at least one point at each property. Properties visited before you opt in are counted. You can check to see how many properties they have you in for at the Total Rewards desk. If you and your spouse do opt in i separately and play each card separately, you will both earn the comps separately. Will get credited at the end of the promotion in October.

Here's my take. . .

The majority of Total Reward members do not have the discipline to play only one point and leave especially after traveling 1.5 to 2.0 hours just to get to another destination and then drive back. They'll look at it as a long day trip or a reason to spend the night. If they spend the night, how likely are they to go to their room after dinner to read or watch TV when there is a casino downstairs?

Giving people comp dollars brings people to casinos. People tend to feel a sense of loyalty to the company that gave them the comp dollars and will stay, play and spend at said company.

The majority of Total Rewards members have no idea that forums like this exist and are not discussing the promotion to the nth degree. Probably, most are not the most educated gamblers.

Most probably don't plan to participate because they don't have trips planned during the time period. I had to talk my relatives into participating simply because they did not think the promotion applied to them.
