Anyone else planning to do The Great Race to Rewards?

While it is true that if everyone took advantage of the program at the minimum level, it would cost CET a bundle, I agree with Lisa that most folks do not even know of the program (I told a number of people we met in Tahoe last weekend about it and only one knew about it). Second, while we only earned about 20 points in Reno, we did over 700 per day in Tahoe, so CET did OK on us.

Plus we are making a couple of trips that we might not otherwise and we definately will stay at CET next year to use up our new comps.

It altered our pattern - we went to Tahoe instead of Vegas and we enjoyed Tahoe so much that we likely will be going back. Harrahs/Harveys takes much better care of its Diamond members than do the Vegas casinos IMO.

Lisa - we had a 3 hour layover in Phoenix last Sat and realized that perhaps we could have worked in a trip to the Harrahs there. How far is it to the airport?

Dave, about 30 minutes each way.
I agree that Tahoe and the smaller markets tend to take better care of their customers.

Edited to add, sounds like you would need to figure in time to rent and return a car, plus allow enough time to go through security. Figuring in the extra time for that and the car rental, I'm not sure if the bonus credits would be worth it.
We just got back from Vegas and my husband spoke with a host for Paris/Bally's. He had NO idea about this Great Race.

But he was very nice and explained his job to us. He even took a small dining charge off the bill in spite of the fact that we had enough reward credits to cover it.

We now have four properties each.

Hello! Any one that is doing this promo that is going to any Harrah's/Cearars property, other than Kansas City, Council Bluffs, or Las Vegas. I would love to make a deal with you on sending you my card for your card to get extra entries. Thanks Randy

Sorry...... my email is [email protected] Thanks Randy
I am playing the great race with my wife and family. My wife and me both have three properties that were earned from slots. Those were in Las Vegas, Laughlin and Atlantic City. Yesterday I took a drive to Chester Pa and found my wife's card had become de-activated no matter how many machines I tried. I then took out my wife's card and played the texas holdem bonus table game with it for about 30 minutes. The card would not take when they swiped it, so the pitboss typed in her number. My wife was not with me to get a new card. I played my card on the slots.

Does anyone know how much tableplay it takes to earn the equivalent of the 1 base point from slots? In addition, they don't check ID's at all at these games.

Actually I won $200 on her card. I am wondering if I earned that point at Chester for her. I am going to New orleans in Sept to get NO and Biloxi to complete my 6, and hopefully hers by the Table game method. She will not go back to AC to get a new card before my trip.

I made a complete round trip from chester to AC and back home. My daughter and her husband came with me for the ride and got 2 destinations. I also took my other daughter's card and luckily it worked in AC and Chester. My 2 kids and her husband will be able to get two more destinations in Sept when I go to NO. They will have 4 destinations each. Obviously I am not going back to Vegas for them.

If you take someone else's card and it fails for some reason, How much table play is needed to get the equivalent of 1 tier point?

P.S.

I also noticed that at the dice table, they always announce your name when giving you back your card, but at Texas Holdem or BJ they just enter your card by swiping or typing the number in. I will have to use the table game method in New Orleans for my wife since she cannot find a good new card that will play in the machines. I have only her de-activated card. By the way she is not going to New Orleans. This is a solo trip.

Is there any way that your wife can get to a destination and have them print her a new card?

FWIW, recently, my mom tried to download my weekly fsp and said my card wouldn't work. I went to our local casino a few days later and my card worked perfectly. I didn't have to go to total rewards to reactivate anything.
I tried her card at Chester and AC, and it would not work.

I read that table play counts, but don't know how much play is required to earn the point.

She will not make a special trip to AC(my closest casino) since she doesn't gamble much. Lucky for me.

When she does gamble, she plays penny slots until all her money is gone. She gets better comps than me since she always loses all her money to the house.

When CET thought of this promotion, they must had my wife in mind.

Sorry I'm late. I've been catching up with threads like these.

I did the race over two weekends - one 1300+ mile swing across the Midwest and the leftovers in Reno and Lake Tahoe. To make a very long story short, I had a good time, and I learned a lot about myself and the countryside. For those of you who like reading very long stories, my trip report is here.

Loved your TR! That's a lot to do in a short time! I take it you're usually not a big CET player since you didn't talk about comping meals or rooms.

Us old folks are doing ours a little slower with some comped rooms and meals. Obviously, we will be playing more as well and adding some extras.

I can't believe that Metropolis has no VP! Thanks for the tips on where the best gas prices are.
