Anyone stay at the Flamingo lately?

Ok, I have asked about reviews of the Flamingo in the past and based on those reviews; and the fact my wife hates the place we did not stay there.

However, my son is home from the Marine Corp and we are going to make a father/son trip. I have booked three nights in October at the Flamingo in a Fab room as its the only kind I could get comped a couple of nights.

With that said, has anyone stayed there lately and what can we expect. The tripadvisor reviews are all over the place.

I have stayed at Flamingo 2 or 3 times and I really like the place. Now, that said, I've always stayed in a GO room, not the newly rehabbed rooms. I love the GO Rooms. I love the Flamingo casino, the garden, pool (just NOT the buffet...not gross, just overly simple for the high price). I think that a father/son trip to Flamingo will be a fantastic place to stay. After all, how much time to you and your son intend on spending in the room? I'm guessing your son is ready to relax and won't care where he's resting his head at night! If you can get the room comped, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Best location on the strip. Other hotels might take 15-20 minutes from room to the strip. If you take more than 5 at the Flamingo something is wrong. Go somewhere else to eat, though.

I stayed in the FAB room in December. It is nice, especially compared to the horrible Flamingo rooms that have not been renovated. The GO rooms ARE great, but after getting an old room once, I did NOT want to take the chance going back and not being able to get a good room. I have a FAB room booked again for November.

Flamingo was my first Vegas room in 2003, and although the room was even "iffy" then (before they had the "Go" rooms), I loved the casino and its location. You'll have a great time there... I always do! Going to Vegas and staying at Harrahs in October, but I know I will head back to the Flamingo for some classic Vegas fun!

Tell your son Thank You for his service to our country. Tell him thank you for being a big part of keeping us free... to enjoy Vegas and whatever else we like to do.
