Bad news for Video Keno players

Caesars's Entertainment has recently severely downgraded the Video Keno pay schedules in most of their
Las Vegas Casinos. Harrah's and Caesar's Palace took out all of their Multi-Card Games (my favorite to play)
and Caesar's Palace, The Cromwell, Harrah's, The Linq and Planet Hollywood now have all put the absolute worst pay schedule on their quarter Four Card Keno machines (five cent + at the Cromwell). Only a few of the dollar Four Card machines have remained untouched.

Any of my future Video Keno Multi-card play will probably now take place at Bellagio, which has one of the best pay schedules in town, and unless I want to play at the dollar level, any of my play at Caesar's Entertainment properties will be mostly Video Poker and Craps.

Hey if they keep changing /eliminating games and making the pay tables worse, my wife and I will just end up going elsewhere or reducing or gambling accordingly. Seems every year things get worse.
wasn't video keno already horrible enuf for the player? I know a lot of people luv it. one of my friends plays keno and only keno and loves it, and I have seen him hit many good wins. but the odds are long, there is no need for them to make it worse. damn casinos stop the greed!
It should be readily apparent that since Caesar's Entertainment has been mismanaged for years they are now downgrading ALL forms of gambling in order to pay their bills. Anyone who gambles at any Caesar's property should expect to NEVER win and are just foolish to donate. Now if money is no object or you are a degenerate gambler, go ahead and gamble at a Caesars property. Intelligent visitors to Vegas should not patronize Caesars unless they love throwing money away. I know that Caesars will not care, but I will never gamble at any of their properties until the time they provide a gambling product that a gambler has an honest expectation to win. I do not gamble for entertainment - I gamble to win. If one gambles for "entertainment" (never expecting to have a chance to win) then a Caesars property should be your cup of tea.

In regards to the original poster's posting, what percentage rate return is considered to be "good" returning for Video Keno?

And players should keep in mind that at least through what I'm finding by using the Keno Calculator that the Wizard Of Odds offers, playing 4 spots gives the player the best chance of having some kind of pay. Its hit frequency is 1 in 3.86 (which is more than 25% of the time) which is (at least currently) the best frequency offered for the choices of 3 spots through 7 spots.

Of these options, playing 5 spots is the worst since its Frequency of ending up with some sort of pay is at 1 in 10.34 (which means that its hit frequency is above 9% -- which is obviously not good).

And so for the odds of the frequency of being paid between choosing on betting on 3 spots through 7 spots, it goes (with the frequencies listed in order of the increasing amount of spots chosen): 3 spots -- 1 in 6.55; 4 Spots -- 1 in 3.86; 5 Spots -- 1 in 10.34; 6 Spots -- 1 in 6.19 and 7 Spots -- 1 in 4.23.

And so based on the frequency of being paid something, the ranking of the best spot options to bet on going from best to worst goes: 4 Spots; 7 Spots; 6 Spots; 3 Spots and last but not least 5 Spots.

Also, with 4 spots, the Variance (Volatility) is a lot lower than other bets. This also can be checked out with the Keno Calculator.

Please note that I have now included more information on Video Keno in my above posting.

Actually, the 3 and 4 Spot Variance is similar, but 5, 6 and 7 spots are a whole lot higher (at least 10 times more and up to about 40 times more).

And so, Video Keno pay schedules need to be checked out very carefully just as they do for Video Poker. The return and Variance can be pretty bad depending on what the casino makes available to the players.

An interesting update: Caesar's Palace has put back the multi card keno that they took out a few months ago and has returned the Four Card keno pay tables at the 25 cent level to a decent pay schedule. Also,
the Cromwell has returned to the better pay schedules also and has added the multi card keno game.

Since I was on the Strip meeting friends, I didn't have time to check any other casinos, but what a pleasant
surprise.

I did take just a quick look at the Bonus Poker pay schedule in the VP area in Caesars by the parking garage and it was still 6/5 so it's anybody's guess what's going to happen next.
