Best Casinos to do DIAD?

vetsen,
you mentioned that 7* gets free rooms ALMOST all the time. do you know of instances when 7* has been turned down esp when they gave 48 hours notice? this is the first i'm hearing of this.
FWIW, I have a friend who was at the Grand in Biloxi. According to the players club there, if you do DIAD between now and year end, you only good to the end of March 2012. So, it looks like this plan will have to wait until January as suggested by a number of replies herein. For December they have 10x points days for everyone. This would have worked perfect for our schedule but it's not going to happen. Maybe they'll hold it over into the new year?

Terry, it's looking like my playing days under my name are numbered. Stupid IL tax treatment of gambling winnings. I think our play in 2012 will be with FL resident Barb. Still need a confirmed tax opinion but that's the preliminary response from my CPA and some other IL based players. I'm getting too far ahead of myself....this work thing is going to leave me precious little time to gamble. Oh wait....blackjack anyone?

Thanks again for all the useful responses.

goose - it now says "some restrictions apply". I know for big events like mardi gras a 7* star with little play or a small theo will not get a room.

Dan - I know someone who did DIAD last December in Vegas and got a March '12 card. I'm fairly certain this is how it's supposed to work but as well all know, different place, different people, different answers.
We found that doing DIAD at Caesars produced significantly better offers for Paul.
So in addition to who has games you want to play you might want to think about the offers you could receive from the property where you do your DIAD.
Caesars has some mighty good offers.
Cruise for 2, balcony cabin, plus $800 was just one of the offers he received that we were able to use.

Thanks foe the further insight.

At Harrahs NOLA now and asked about DIAD here for giggles. First they said "good thru March 2013". Then waited a day and asked another club rep..."good they March 2012". When I told him that the previous night I was told March 2013, he looked like a deer in the headlights and corrected himself "oh, I forgot we were in December. Yes, it's good thru March 2013" said with waning confidence.

As an aside, I asked when the gaming day starts and stops. His reply "we're not allowed to disclose that". Wtf, really? Amazingly stupid.

Low rolled and slow played for a half hour each day to get our $30/day self parking comped. Won a net $36.50. Using Great Race RC's to pay for room and some small food and drinks.

A stupid way to run a casino from a patrons perspective but that's what a lack of competition will get you.

Off to Biloxi today and will reconfirm what I've been told from the Grand. Problem with playing there is that a $1,200 or more hit results in a 3% tax that's non-refundable. This is the turn and burn portion of our road trip....just shy of $700 in FP for the both of us over 2 days. I'm thinking we'll make gas money on this portion of the trip.

Cafe du Monde is calling....gotta go.

Thanks again for all the good info. Rather than take any chances due to conflicting info from CET's on staff, DIAD will wait until January.

Unbelievable policy. I am amazed they publish their pay tables. Lol
I think this is related to the cash transaction reporting requirement. If I recall correctly, that is based on gaming day rather than midnight. And the laws are very strict about revealing anything about those reporting requirements.

Say you've bought in for $9000 at the BJ tables. Then you pull out another $2000. They will require ID and SSN before allowing you to over $10,000 buy-in in a single day. If you say, when does the new day start, they can get in a lot of trouble for telling you because they're basically telling you how to circumvent the reporting requirements.

Having said all that, I'm not suggesting that it means that a total rewards attendant shouldn't answer an innocent question about gaming day. But it is a fairly valid reason for them to have a policy of no one disclosing their gaming day just to avoid any problems. It's certainly possible that the same player mentioned above could walk over and ask that question of total rewards. And if they answer him, who knows, maybe they have an issue.
Ok, that's a logical explanation and something I never considered, thanks.

In this case, wouldn't it be logical to just say DIAD needs to be done within a 24 hour period from the time you start your play? Their tracking software shows all of this and it's easily verified if you present yourself to the players club to request this status. Saying "we can't tell you that information" isn't exactly customer friendly and is counter intuitive to getting people to play for this.

I agree with waiting until January. If possible, do your play at the casino you most want to get offers from.
I did the burn my free play over Thanksgiving at the Beau and at the Grand.
The Beau was not happy and my $300 freeplay twice a month is now $25 freeplay twice a month.
I have not seen what the Grand thought of things but I gave Harrah's NO significant play during the same period so hopefully that is enough to offset the Grand shortfall.
Hope you have better results.
