I can only report our experience last January--you went to any Harrah's property TR booth, they checked our account (we showed them our TR Visa card with the TR number on it, actually), they put the 24h BofB on our card, gave our companions wrist bands, impressed on us that it lasted exactly 24hours (must reach last cashier before time expires), and sent us on our way. No room key etc. required. We went into five buffets (Paris twice, PH twice, send wife and I hit Flamingo for a snack). Each time when we got to cashier, they swiped our card, checked the wrist bands on our companions (they went in on their own without us with them one time), and we were in. Very smooth!
We had out daughter and adult grand daughter with us, wife and I both had separate cards--saved us tons of money! We all four ate for 24hours for free.
Lastly, I would not go get the BofB put on the card until you are literally headed for the buffet, and be sure to allow for a delay in the line when it is about to expire.
We had two rooms at PH, so we avoided the resort fees (no longer the case), ate free for 24hrs, and got the free $100 comp added to card. Don't know exactly what it saved us, but it was a bunch!
