A little late in getting this post on the boards, but here goes:
My wife and I booked a room for 4 nights at the Flamingo last July. Because I fly standby as an airline employee, I'm not always 100% sure of how things are going to work out, and sure enough, on the first day of our trip I couldn't even get out of our home town until the next day, due to flights being overbooked due to what we in the industry call "downline" mechanical issues.
I called the Flamingo immediately, and told them that we would be arriving one day later, which we did. The phone rep simply expressed his regrets, and wished us better luck the next day.
Soon after checking in, I noticed that my RC balance was nearly gone, where it had been about 6800 ($68) before our trip. I understand that if you cancel a reservation with less than 48 or 72 hours notice (something like that), they will take the point balance out of your RC (or comp) account; but with us just missing a day, why did they take all of my comps away?
I also paid for an upgrade to a GO room when I checked in, which I paid with my credit card, for what it's worth.
Anyone else have a similar experience and/or an explanation of what Caesar's policy is in this regard?
Seems like it would be tough for people like me that travel standby to work with their system, especially since I didn't cancel the whole trip but just one night.
The thoughts of the mighty LVA boards are appreciated! (BTW, we still had a great time!)
