Caesar's Resort Fees?

I don't know that I believe the alleged outcome, but: https://www.vegastripping.com/news/blog/4897/caesars-entertainment-adding-resort-fees/
Vegas Chatter is reporting this story as well.....
Third party online travel agencies are now confirming a resort fee will be added for stays after 3/1.

Probably inevitable but seems worse as it was the focus of their marketing for the last two years.
There is also a thread about this along with an article on the LVA Free-Side Message Board.

I can't say that this surprises me by Caesars Ent. but I wonder if it will be across the board -- that is even for people with Comped rooms?

I just sent an email question to Caesars.com about this. This could be similar to the "early check-in" fees that were the subject of recent posts. It could also be a matter of CET trying to get customers to book direct rather than through travel agents.

Of note yesterday I booked two comped nights at Cosmopolitan for April. Since it has been posted that they now have a resort fee, I asked how much it was. I was told they do not charge a resort fee for comped rooms.
I've done a little research on this and found several articles. Of importance, the following is what I found in a recent article:

Editor’s note: To clarify, the resort fee will apply to all NEW bookings beginning March 1. If you have already booked a stay at a Caesars Entertainment property – even if it is for a future date – you will not be charged a resort fee. The fee only applies to new bookings made on or after March 1, 2013.

I guess the question is whether the resort fee will apply to comped rooms. I have not been successful in finding any info on that.

That's good to know.

So can we hope that if we book before March 1st for rooms later in the year that there won't be a resort fee charged?
At first I was mad, but then Caesars put out the press release that assured me that they did this in response to customer wants and demands. I am relieved to learn it isn't a pricing strategy designed to enrich the shareholders. I expect everyone to be cheering that they will not be charged separably as they only did this for as a service to us. It is practically charity in a sense.
Interesting article in the Las Vegas Sun
