Cet Resort Fees

I just called Paris, she said they are not charging Resort Fees for Platinum and Diamond Card holders.
Nice! I'd heard that as a rumor, but am elated to hear it from someone else! Thanks for the post!
Sweet! I have ressies there in March AND April!
TECramer you obviously made those ressies before March 1st so you would not be charged the resort fee anyhow. I wonder how CET hopes to compete with Mlife, Stations, etc. if those entities do not charge resort fees on comped rooms and CET does (at least for those of us with purple cards). Up to now I only considered CET when staying on the Strip due to no resort fees and almost always a room comp. I will have to relook at that policy now. I guess as long as I get a comped room the resort fee is a minor inconvenience plus I will probably use the wifi which I would not have done previously for $10.95 per day or so.

According to info I've heard (Thanks, FiveHundy!), the internet access you get with the resort fee is NOT WiFi, you have to use the ethernet cable in the room (so long iPad); so you have to bring a laptop or some kind of wireless server that plugs into the ethernet, with there also being a limit of one device.

Hope this helps!

Checked in at Rio on Sunday morning and were told that the only ones who have to pay resort fee are Gold level, individuals with no players card and anyone not staying at the hotel. The resort fee covers wifi access for one device, access to the spa for two individuals and unlimited local phone calls. Since Platinum and above do not have to pay the resort fee, you do not get wifi.
There is still a free wifi hotspot at the Whopper Bar.
Forgot to mention that I was told the Diamond Lounge in Rio is a free wifi hotspot in addition to the two wired computers that are available there. I wouldn't be surprised if other Diamond Lounges are also free wifi hotspots.
The question still remains is the resort fee assessed if the room is comped? South Point also instituted a resort fee on March 1 but it is not assessed on comped rooms but all the amenities are still available.

A friend of ours is gold and yes, he is being charged a resort fee on a comp room offer. It said so on the web site reservation form.

there are over 2000 hotel rooms at Rio, if someone can convince say 500 people to show up at the fitness center at one time, not everyone would be able to get in, then complain to the front desk that they paid a resort fee and couldnt use all the amentities
