Companion rates/checking for companion at check in

I have noticed I get comp rooms for hotels when I add my wife's account..
I think we all know that but the thing is...she has not gambles in 2 yrs...lol
plus she has never gambled much...

here is my question though...
are they checking for your companion at check in?
if so...which hotels?

because my last visit...had 5 nights comped...
they asked if that was my companion...
standing 20 feet away...watching our luggage
they never asked for her name...players card or ID...

I just said yes....they said ok...

because I have a friend of mine...(female) who I know her card number/zip code etc
and can get comped rooms...almost on any day...
if they are not gonna check then my wife could be standing 20 feet away with our luggage...and have no issues...

just curious if they are checking...and being real strict about it now...
I know at one point they were but seem to have gotten lax since they added some additional requirements...like zip code etc up reserving rooms...

just checking...let me know...
Harrahs' properties (er, Caesars' properties) always check both of our cards and ID's when we're checking in on comped rooms. Not sure about any other companies, though.
I always book our Harrahs room under both player id's, myself and my wife. We receive better room offers when it is booked under two players. So at check in, they always ask for both id's before issuing our room keys.

I've had it hit and miss whether or not they check. Some properties do, some don't and some it simply varies by employee. I only ever use my wife as my companion so it wouldn't matter either way because she's always there anyway. From everything I've read over the years it's a YMMV situation.

Stungazed James is correct. All Caesar's properties do not check the partner's ID even though the reservation always says that both parties must be present at check-in. In fact since Caesar's got serious about this the only place that really bore down on it was Bally's in Vegas (last March). They demanded both parties stand in front of the check-in agent with cards and IDs. Since then we have stayed in Tunica, NOLA, Biloxi, Illinois, Cleveland (Ritz-C) and Horseshoe Southern Indiana (several times) and I have never been asked for my wife's card, her ID, or even her presence. Since booking with a partner number almost always gets a better rate (usually a comp) I am surprised the booking condition is not enforced. The problem is you never know when you will be asked "where is your partner?"
We were asked at Paris in June. I was surprised because at other properties we haven't been asked. My husband was outside with the luggage ready to check it with valet if we couldn't get in our room right away. It does say on the website that both of us had to be present, so I couldn't be mad.

Have never been asked. During check-in the only thing they have ever said is "would you like to put someone else's name on the room for any charges?"
I think this is mostly a Nevada (lots of tourists) issue, as I have been asked there and in Tahoe, but never at any other Harrahs location.

We've always been asked at Bally's-AC, Harrah's-AC and Caesars-AC for my partner to present his card and ID along with mine when both of our numbers were used to book the room.
