Construction

With construction underway with the demolition of O'Shea's, what is status of walkways, etc. what about noise at Flamingo?????

Thanks for input!

In May I walked the walk from Bally's to Harrah's.

You walk across the bridge over Flamingo Rd., past Bills, and then walk through the Flamingo (we go inside, for the air conditioning). You walk as far as you can, and exit out of the Flamingo at the last door of the Margaritaville casino.

Then you are at that intersection which used to be so crowded, because of the bus stop, the stop light, and the Margaritaville wanna-be's. That street is now closed, and there is no stop light, so you can walk right across with no waiting.

If you look to the right you can see the destruction/construction of O'Sheas and its replacement. At that point you veer to the left, and enter what looks like a canvas covered tunnel, made with scaffolding, about 8-10 feet wide (maybe more). At this point you are actually walking on the rightmost lane of the Las Vegas Strip, with cars zooming by to your left. You are separated only by scaffold-like structures and the canvas top and sides. Maybe there were some wood walls on part of it; not sure.

At one point you see a makeshift sign to the Imperial Palace pedestrian entrance to the right. There is no longer a entrance for cars here.

When you finally get to the Carnival Court, the walkway continues for a while, and you only get out of it when you can actually see the entrance to Harrah's, near where the Carnival Court pavillion is. At this point the street vendors are still there. I was so relieved to be out of it that I was actually glad to see them.

You are out of the walkway and your walk is complete. I found it rather uncomfortable, being next to the cars, the construction, and the noise. It was also quite dusty, and at one point I got what seemed to be a mouthful of construction dust.

The entire walk took about 6-7 minutes, and I would certainly avoid it if I had to do it again. So keep your mouth tightly shut, and walk fast.

On a positive note: there were no porn slappers at all. None.

And, the front automobile entrance to Harrah's, which goes through a tunnel, is still open.

I can't comment on noise in the Flamingo rooms, but the casino was busy as usual, no unusual noise at all that I noticed. All you do is ask for a "quiet" room and they will try to accommodate you.
