Cosmo In-room Coffee

I was just wondering if what I have heard about coffee in the room at Cosmo is in fact true. Is it really $5 from the mini-bar? Anyone else stay there and find this to be the case?

If so, what type of coffee was it? I like a lot of coffee and don't really want to be spending in the ballpark of $15/day for coffee. Do you think that I could bring my own? Just need to find out what kind of filters it takes, or if it's a coffee maker with the little pouch/ tea bag looking things...

I stayed at the cosmo 3 weeks ago. I think the coffee is actually $15 right off the bat. Everything in that mini bar is a rip off. Make sure if you touch the stuff, you put it back immediately. The little box that holds the coffee/beef jerky etc... isn't built well. When you try putting the items back, they keep tipping over causing the sensors to make it show that you used the item. Be careful. BTW, Cosmo sucked, except for the room. Hope you have a good time there.
I was just there and it is not $15 right off the bat, the box is 5.00 and makes 2 cups of coffee which is very weak so I would not bother with it if you like strong coffee in the morning or extra cream and sugar, like all hotels, you get 2 sugars and one cream, I like double double so did not taste so great, there is a funky coffee shop in their mall area and we quite enjoyed their coffee, they were about 5.00 for a specialty coffee and 3.75 for a large regular coffee, something like that ! I did love the place so dont let anyone tell you bad until you stay yourself, the mini bar and treats are costly and if you open and close the fridge too much you will get charged but I would check my folio every mornng and call down and tell them I did not use anything and they fix it right away, my advice is if you want to keep something cold, put ice in the sink cause the bottom of the fridge freezes everything, nothing like a beer slushy on a hot day out on your terrace though!! You do have the option of having everything removed from fridge for 25.00 if you dont want the hassle.

There's is some good info up there.

I think it may be different in different rooms. Our fridge was a fridge on one side and a freezer on the other

and both worked perfectly. Our room was not stocked with anything for our entire stay so we did

not have to worry about being charged by mistake.

We loved our time at the Cosmo.

Thanks for the info. I have a really good contact that works there, so I'd to think that any issues will be resolved quickly, should any arise.

Is there a stove in the room? I'll be in a wrap around terrace suite. Could always bring my own espresso and my stove top espresso maker! That would work!

We too loved the Cosmo, we were in a 1 bedroom terrace suite, what room were you in, that is different fridge, you were lucky! After booking and reading peoples comments I was worried but did not experience what others have, they must be really picky!! I hate to read what others say after I had such a great experience! As for a stove, we did not have one, not sure about other rooms. Good Luck and have fun!

Thanks, that's what I've been thinking too... Listen to everyone, but form my own opinion once I have stayed there.

As for minibar issues that people have stated, about it being costly, what minibar have you ever seen where it is a bargain? I, for one, have never seen one where they are NOT costly... LOL!

Thanks again for all the info people!

We were in a Terrace Studio Suite, pictures HERE.
I stayed at a wraparound terrace suite. It was nice. I had a fridge with one shelf without mini bar stuff. Every time I opened the door the grey goose bottle was charged to my account.
They corrected the problem. The mini bar coffee was weak and not worth the price. For 5 dollars more you can get half a pot of good coffee with room service or go down to the third floor to the coffee shop.
We had the fridge that was empty at the bottom. As we eventually figured out, that is a freezer, set at 6 degrees.

The coffee maker is a fancy schmancy thing. You can not use other filters, coffee. We tried. It uses funky little pods. As said, you get 2 for $5. Out unit would never heat up. Instead, I boiled water and did it that way. Their is a microwave in the room.
