Crappy stay at Caesars

Maybe I'm a whiner, but I'm returning home from my worst stay ever in Las Vegas. I was supposed to go to Caesars last weekend for the GGWU booster event. However, there was a death of a close family member so I unfortunately had to attend a funeral instead. After this, plus a lot of other things, I just needed an escape. I had my host book a room for the 18-20 for the Macy's card/casino credit event, which was the 19-21st. I arrived at 9:30 AM on the 18th, so I knew a room wouldn't be ready (I was booked for a "luxury" room in the Augustus tower with a fountain view). At check in, the lady said she'd put a rush on cleaning the room and would call me when it was ready. Well, I went back at 2:30 and there was no record of me checking in. I was irritated as I was up since 2AM Vegas time. A different lady said there was a room immediately available (in a different tower with a view of a parking ramp), or I would have to wait a few more hours for the room type I was supposed to get. I said that I would wait. During the interim, I went to the host office and spoke with a host. Initially he thought I was correct, but then he called check in and said either to take the crappy room or wait. He also told me that it wouldn't have made a difference if they would have checked me in as nothing would be ready any sooner. I brought up that check in is at 4, so I didn't believe this could be true and he said take it or leave it. I finally got into a room at 3:30, and the internet didn't work....BTW, I am a diamond member and was charged 14.99 for this. I was told there was nothing that could be done....it was room 3470 in the Augustus tower. This made me even more irritated. The room was very nice on the positive side. Then, on the morning of the 19th I went to the TR desk to find out where to go to get my casino cash. I was then told that it wouldn't be distributed until the 20th at noon. Well, my flight was supposed to leave at 9AM on the 20th because I have to work early the 21st. This was the reason that I chose Las Vegas this weekend and was never told about this or I wouldn't have gone. I didn't have the mailer as I was planning on going the previous weekend and my host never said anything about this. I went to the diamond check in and was told to go to the TR station. I then went to the TR station and was told that it would be illegal to hand out the casino cash early so I was stuck. Absolutely nothing went my way this trip, so I'm returning on the evening of the 19th instead of the morning of the 20th (only stayed 1 night and made 3000 tier credits over this 30 hours). I called to check out, as I was tired of going to that diamond check in spot, and when asked if I enjoyed my stay I said it was not the best. The woman who answered the phone obviously didn't listen to me because she said that was nice. Sorry for the rambling post for what was a costly 30 hour stay, but this really annoyed me. I've stayed at Paris dozens of times and have been treated well. I feel like my body type (50 and overweight) wasn't what Caesars wanted to be roaming their casino, but it sure was more than happy to take my money.
I am sorry to hear about your lousy visit. CP is wonderful when things go well, but way too big if you need to keep traipsing all over the place to get things done. Sounds like Paris is more your speed - I will be there this week-end myself :-)
You are not a whiner, you just needed to vent. Such a disappointment when you are looking forward to a trip and things do not workout as expected. Hope your next trip is a winner.
Wow I have stay there many many times and this has never happened to me, they have always been the most friendly, of all of my other stays. It is just hit and miss. I even checked in at 7 a. m. once. I am a very low Diamond, 48 and average build.

Thanks everyone. I think that the most frustrating thing is that not once did anyone say what can we do to help to rectify the situation. Trying to convince me to accept a downgrade and that it was my fault that I didn't know when the casino cash/gift card was being distributed was rather inappropriate.
I'm sorry you had a bad time. Dealing with death can make everything worse including Vegas trips. I'm diamond and always have had to pay for internet at CP or any CET property. I seriously doubt body type had anything to do with how you were treated. However, I agree you should have been treated with courtesy and respect.

I kind of have this rule. If something happens when I travel that still bugs me a week or so later, I mail a letter to an executive explaining what happened and how ____ did not meet my expectations. I keep the letter short, to the point and professional. eg Imagine my excitement when I arrived at Caesars Palace on March 18 after having to reschedule a trip due to a death of a close family member. I was very much looking forward to my mini vacation and stay at CP. Imagine my disappointment when __________. __________, and ____________. What made matters worse was no one seemed to care. I spoke with _________ and ______ and unfortunately their attitude was tough, there's nothing I can do. Perhaps, I got the dates wrong on when I could pick up the free play offer, however, I expect to be treated courtesy and with respect.

My condolences to you on your loss and I'm sure your next trip will be better.
Good advice, Miss7777. It's been over a week and I'm still frustrated by how I was treated, so I sent a letter off today. If, I hear anything, I'll post the response.
I had a bad experience at Caesars back in Dec. 2001. Wrote a letter to the hotel manager; answer was basically the same as yours. Too bad. That included the fact they billed me for the first night after I had prepaid it.

Have not stayed there since, and tell anyone who asks for my opinion on Caesars about my experience.

They get a lot of bad word of mouth from me; exactly the opposite of the first time I stayed there, when I couldn't say enough good things about the hotel.
