Current MGM Rewards website booking changes

For the past week to 10 days or so, apparently MGM has decided to implement changes to their comp room booking system. I have had a comped room offer booked for a couple months for a mid-August stay. I have numerous future comp offers remaining on my website account, but I apparently can't book those for fully comped rooms until I've completed the existing booked stay. I'm able to book the offers, but nightly room charges are attached to all the offers I tested. Those test attempts were carried out with three different browsers (Firefox, Chrome, and Microsoft Edge). Curious if anyone else has experienced this specific problem within the past few days..specifically involving the booking of future comp offers ( with comped rooms, free play, and resort credits) with an existing reservation in place.

In the past, there were no problems in booking future offers with fully comped perks while having one or two previous offers booked. Depending on the extent of the procedural changes they're implementing, it all might just be a function of ironing out kinks from a new rollout with these tech system changes. OTOH, this might in fact be a real change by MGM Rewards..eg essentially a 'one-reservation-at-a-time" approach for fully comped stays from the booking standpoint. Time will tell, but it certainly wouldn't be surprising that a casino company would implement policy that made things more difficult for players *l*.

We'll see.

This is pure speculation, but in the past, when a property or properties may be changing hands, the company owning those properties has been reluctant to book comped stays very far in advance. The reason, so I'm told, is that the obligation to honor the comp--a contingent liability, in accounting-ese--slightly depresses the value of the property to a prospective buyer. I was skeptical when I was told this but was also told that for a big property with already high room rates, such as a Strip megatoilet, the cumulative liability can be several million dollars. (Pending comps also depress revenue projections.)

So maybe there's stuff on the auction block?

Charles-you may have to call MGM to get your answer.

@Kevin...I agree and there is no doubt that comps represent an expense for accounting purposes. I think , however, that  these anomalies for comped bookings might just represent MGM's tendency of late to squeeze more pennies and reduce risk exposure from comp players. Alternatively, it is possible the kinks in the booking system are resulting simply from their implementation of changes in the hardware / software behemoth system. Sometimes those changes take time..IT techs as humans sometimes screw up ...when they start dabbling with such a complex system. Time might tell.

@David..I did. I was told what I experienced regarding future comp offers with one already booked WAS a new change and that it is now a component of the network. A booking rep told me that via phone conversation. Now all we have to do is assume  that he was real-world correct regarding what he told me ( sometimes that's a big assumption). We'll see.

You talk to a boothling (in person or on the phone) and you have as high as a 60% chance of getting correct information. This seems like such a dumb policy--why squelch people's ability to plan ahead?--that there must be some rational reason for it.

Or, it's just MGM being MGM (More, Gimme More).

Sounds like #2 is the roadblock right now, though I haven't tried lately.

Did the person you talked to say whether the room charges showing on the future reservation would automatically fall off (and the FP and RCs fall on) the subsequent reservations once your current trip was completed?  Or would you have to submit your request again?  How ridiculous that somebody somewhere would have to keep up with that aspect.

I've had comp room nights from MGM for years - but not this year.  We've been Gold in the past, but this year we actually are Platinum, and no comp nights.  We got the higher tier mostly due to spending at their properties last year at Christmas, not by gambling, although we did give them plenty of play.  Go figure.

Candy..I didn't ask if the room charges would be removed on future bookings after completing the existing originally booked ( and fully comped) trip. From what I was told ( again, if accurate), I won't be able to find out my 'refreshed" future comped offers ( with no attached room charges) until completing the reserved stay. I'm not going to worry about it..just focused on the upcoming trip.
