I've stayed at the Rio at least a dozen times, and never really had a bad room. The Rio "suites" are larger than your average Vegas hotel room with floor to ceiling windows, a couch, coffee table and a desk. The bathroom with the tolilet & tub is in a separate room with a sink; there is a vanity with sink and a large mirror also. All of the rooms that I have stayed in had an in-room safe and a small refrigerator; some had a coffee maker. The Ipanema tower seems to have the better rooms overall; that's where Gregrio always stays.
When I stayed there last April I used the $20 trick and was given a room on the Diamond floor in the Ipanema Tower with no problem....on the 14th floor overlooking the pool area. I'll be staying at the Rio for a week in September. Hope this info helps.
