DIAD at Harrah's Laughlin.

I'm a Vegas resident, considering this month earning DIAD at Harrah's Laughlin.

I'm considering there rather than Vegas figuring that I will get better mailers from there - freeplay, etc.

I know this forum has some Harrah's experts - can someone please tell me what offers I should expect to receive from there after earning DIAD.

Am I indeed better off going there rather than earning it in Vegas?

About four years ago, I went to Harrahs Laughlin and earned my DIAD on some 50 play 5 cent machines. Back then, they had 8/5 bonus and 9/6 Jacks. It cost me about $300 and at the time it took 3000 credits ($30,000 through the machine.) I know there has been some chatter that it may take more points to achieve Diamond so the minimum for DIAD may go up as well.

I don't think it matters which casino you earn it in, rather you want to find the best paytable for earning it. Not long after I made it, I began receiving offers from many of their casinos: as far away as New Orleans. I routinely have 90-120 offers now for rooms, food, entertainment.

There are many here who complain about the poor pay tables, reduced Diamond privledges etc. The program works for me. I live closer to Tahoe and Harveys has some decent pay tables and I know a few of the other properties do as well. And, I like the service that MOST Harrah$$ properties provide.

I think when I decided to try for DIAD, I set my loss limit at $600. If I didn't make my 3000 before then, I would have quit but I only ended up loosing half that much. Good luck if you decide to go for it!

I find Harrahs Laughlin very generous with offers and their machines hit or miss. I'm pretty sure the gambling day starts at 3 am. Check with them to see how many points are required in the 24 hour period as it might vary per casino.
Harrah's Laughlin gaming day definitively starts at 3am.

Thanks for all the info from everyone who responded.

Would appreciate knowing from you and any others who can help:

Were there freeplay mailers from Laughlin when you earned DIAD, and if so, for what amounts?
Was it possible to play them all once a month, or did they require going there more than once a month to use them all?

I was told that the offers would be better from venues with less traffic.
For example, Caesar's LV gets lots of business, Laughlin a lot less (at least now with rooms about $18 weekdays).
At any rate, that's my reason for choosing to earn it there rather than in LV. Otherwise I would look for a place with better paytables - the best $5 vp there now (to get it over in a hurry would play the $5) is 8/5 Bonus. Not even 9/6 J or B available there.

Are any of your offers for freeplay? Playable chips?
Worthwhile gifts (better than casino logo clothes)?
Worthwhile tournaments?

Also -
I was told that the casino with the most play becomes the host/predominate casino, as far as offers.
Is that accurate? Anotherwords, that if I earn DIAD at Laughlin, and that's my only Harrah's play for the year, that most of my offers will come from there - even though I live in LV?

Very much appreciate the feedback from all.

Sorry, I can't speak to the DIAD part, but I am a Diamond member who went to Laughlin for the first time a few months ago. Now I get about 5 mailers weekly for Lauglin with everything from FP, to golf outings to small appliances. Hubs is gold and he is getting dining vouchers and $80. FP per month. Seems like if you play enough for DIAD, your ADT should be such that they would buy you a condo or something!!! (J/K)
We prefer to go to Vegas or other properties - NOLA and Tahoe are both wonderful so do not use our Laughlin offers much. I do think it matters where you make Diamond though - I made it at Paris last year and now most of my offers come from there. Glad I made the effort to be at my preferred property when I got there. I was at Bally's when I renewed for this year and I hope they do not hold that against me!!
I haven't been to Laughlin in years. I got an offer for $75 cash so I booked 1 night next month when we go to Vegas. The last time I went to Laughlin I had, I think, something like $75 fp. You can only use the fp at vp machines by the bar which were horrible pay scales. Of course, you could use it on slots.

I used to go on a lot of junkets with my Mom and always got a suite as I played $ on JB, NSU and 10/7 DB and then 9/6 JB on 50-play .05 AND .10.

I do like Laughlin and enjoyed many trips there, but am very disappointed that they reduced all of their vp pays.

As far as Caesar's goes, there is no very good vp except for 8/5 BP at the Rio which is why we are staying there next month.
Jacques:

Even though I got my DIAD from Laughlin, I don't see much difference in offers from Tahoe and Vegas. For example, I get freeplay from Reno/Tahoe every month, Gifts, special days to gain multiple points and invitations for tournaments. But, I get the same offers from Vegas and even Ak-Chin although I have only visited the latter casino twice. Personally, I think I am just in the system as a Diamond Player. Perhaps I get more from Tahoe/Reno because I am closer to them. Come to think of it, my offers from Laughlin have diminished greatly probably due to the fact I don't vist them very often.

Judy - were is the 8/5 Bonus at Rio? At what level - quarters, dollars?

You can email me if you do not want to post this info here.

Their in the poker area right between the buffet & All American Grille. It's a circle with $.25-$1 ,8 uprights. The BP is at the $ level.
