Diamond in a day at Caesars question

I haven't played at a total rewards casino in about six years, but I got a comped room at Caesars for a couple of days in December. I understand that if I get 5,000 points in a day, they give you 10,000 bonus points to make diamond in day. I was previously a diamond player and enjoyed the diamond lounges, and I have a few questions:
1. What time does a playing day start and end?
2. Will the diamond carry over for 2016?
3. Since I play only VP, and I know VP is lousy at all Harrahs properties. about
how much can I expect to lose to get 5,000 points at the quarters and/or dollar
levels?
4. About how long would have to play at those levels?
Any help in answering my questions will be appreciated.

Thanks,
John from PA

I can answer the first 2. My understanding is that a "day" at Caesars is from 6:00 a.m. to 5:59 a.m. If you earn diamond status by the end of the year you will remain a diamond through 2016 and I believe til March of 2017.

How much you can expect to lose is hard to say. I have a friend who went for DIAD at the beginning of the year and quit around 3600 points cause she lost so much. She did a second trip and earned the points for diamond. I have another friend who went for DIAD years ago when the requirement was much lower and won around a grand. It is possible you could win. The real question is how much are you willing to risk to earn DIAD.
You can earn the 5,000 tier points in one day, but it won't make you diamond THAT day. It normally takes 1 - 3 days for the bonus tier points to show up in your account, so technically, you won't be diamond until that happens.

Sorry for the above slip-up! Thanks for the answers, all. Maybe I'll reconsider and stick with my original plans of staying and playing minimumly at Caesars. I recently have been getting all kinds of offers from them after a several years personal boycott of Harrah's over one of their charter flights to Atlantic City, and thought I would give them another shot. I've been staying/playing primarily with Aliante, Green Valley Ranch, and South Point, and they all treat me well. As I think back on it, the Diamond lounges were nice, but the lousy VP really wasn't worth the price.

Your other option would be to do two days of play at 2500 points a day which gets a 5000 point bonus. Two days will get you to diamond.

Doing 50k in a day to get the diamond status probably isn't the best idea unless that type of play is already in your comfort zone.
