Driving from Vegas to Laughlin

Recently, someone asked about the driving conditions between Vegas and Laughlin. Since I don't remember which thread or have the time to search, here you go.

Except for around Searchlight and a few other areas, US 95 is a 4 lane divided highway with the posted speed limit of 75. Speed limits in and around Searchlight are lower and enforced. For the most part, NV-163 is a 4 lane highway with a posted speed limit of 65. Closer to Laughlin, it's 55.

Thank you. I plan to making that drive this coming Sunday.
Thanks for the additional advice I am doing this in September.
Be very carefull on speeds. Heavily enforced with all types of unmarked vehicles. Regular cars and trucks with no visible markings.

You're welcome.

Once you head south on US 95, the speed limit is clearly marked 75. Closer to Searchlight, it's 65. Entering Searchlight, it's 55, then 45, 35 and 25 as you drive through town. The first sign outside Searchlight said 55. Afterwards, the posted speed limit was 75.
Great Info. Planning on doing this in 3 weeks.
Thanks also, two weeks for me.
casinos along the way------in searchlight which is about half way to laughlin there are 2---terribles and the searchlight casino----neither has any full-pay vp-----the searchlite casno has been there forever and has lots of character and a decent restaurant at reasonable prices-----

--------- further down in the town of cal-nev-ari you will find the cal-nev-ari casino,a real locals spot, decent pit stop, they have 2 playable vp machines,25c 8/5 bonus poker which are coin droppers---

for the adventuresome-------take the short cut from 95 south to 163 east via christmas tree pass------a dirt road thru the mountains which may save some miles but not time------no speed limit checks to worry about----

when in laughlin, would be a good idea to cross over the bridge to bullhead city arizona and fill up with gas for the return trip--gas is cheaper in arizona, less state taxes----

one other scenario------there is an american legion post in laughlin about 1 mile from the casinos----it is unique in that it offers bartop slots and video-poker although no full-pay vp-----unique in the sense that all legion posts require that you be a member to enter----not so here-----was advised by the bartender that private gambling is not legal in nevada ,therefor they can not refuse admission to non-members-----if you want some local flavor you may want to give this post a play-----free drinks while gambling ,otherwise inexpensive-----and-----they offer food specials on different days
Around 2 years ago we stopped at the Terribles next to MickeyDees, everything was hand pay. I've always wondered about driving the Christmas Tree Pass. Not sure I want to drive miles on a dirt road. Is it desert scenery?

At Harrahs Laughlin, you can use your reward credits to purchase a voucher good for gas at the Shell station located just to the left of the entrance to Harrahs.

the most impressive scenery thru christmas tree pass -------is the christmas tree-------where locals and travelers hang various ornaments not only at christmas time but throughout the year-----thus the name---
