Even more fees !! This takes the cake =)

I got a "free" weeks stay at the Hilton Grand Vacations Club on the north strip (accross from SLS) from work.

Its a nice property - I've stayed there before.   But they've come up with some new fees since my last stay.

My "free stay" does not include:

- Daily mandatory $25 RESORT USAGE fee (this includes 2 bottles of water and access to wifi)

- Daily $8-$12 parking fee  (I dont know how they determine which of those values applies)

- $25 Resort Ammenities fee optional (does not say if this is daily or for the length of stay)  but its not included in the resort fee.  This is if you want to use the pool and workout room.

- $40 weekly housekeeping fee.

So in sum total my "free room" for the week is going to end up costing me north of $300.    Still a nice place for $300 so I'll take it but HOLY CRAP the fee structure has officially jumped the shark.

shhhh - if drmilled hears about this his head might explode......

Did you have to be a member of their vacation club to get this free room offer?

No..I work for RCI.    We get to stay in any inventory that is not claimed by our customers.

Holy cow!

That is just crazy

Enjoy your stay...

We get some questionable benefits from our company also. I just checked out the property online, and it looks pretty nice....

"Situated at the north end of the Las Vegas Strip, our resort hotel offers a non-gaming family refuge in the 24-hour city, with all the comforts of home."

What? Las Vegas Strip Resort with no gaming? : - )

If you don't have comps for a casino hotel or free rooms through a hotel rewards program, it looks to me that you are doing fine with this one at $50/night. I don’t know much at all about Hilton Vacation Club, but I do know there are other Vacation Clubs out there that are notorious for deceptive practices.

In my opinion, the one that takes the cake is the Atlantis Bahamas “free” vacation you can get with CET status. You still have to pay a daily resort fee, room tax, and gratuity. And then you have to pay an additional $50+tax per day for each guest you have staying with you in your “free” room. And then you might be stuck there for food, where the basic meal plan is $80/per person per day...

Las Vegas is playing with a full loaded deck. They keep adding stupid fees for free stays that end up costing mor ethan if you paid for just the free room. Las Vegas vivitors usually spend the amout they have set aside and if in stupid fees so be it. We have visited LV 6 times per year for the past 25 or more years and have seen a lot of changes but at the pace they are going it about time to say enough is enough.

Careful Tom, when blackjack reads this post of yours he will ridicule you, as if his opinion really matters...

Unfortunely as long as people keep coming and paying the fees , they'll keep the fees coming.
