family friendly hotel

We will be traveling in June with our 3 teenagers and my eldery Dad who uses a Scooter.  My Dad loves the traditional quarter slots which are so popular in the downtown area (but we learned during our last visit these hotels are not very disability friendly!)--and my teens would love a nice pool area.  I'm booking 3 rooms (an accessible one for my Dad).  I was considering the MGM Grand--but I am a little intimidated because it is so large and if we all get spread out, I think it would be really hectic.

1.  Are there any strip hotels that offer quarter slots (where you don't have to spend a dollar per turn)?

2.  Yet also have a good pool area for the teens?

Any hotel/casino, whether on the Strip or elsewhere, is going to have quarter slots. The distinction is that on the Strip, those slots don't pay well at all. You might not think this makes much of a difference, but it does. Plus, it's more fun to play a high-payback machine. Furthermore, pretty much any Strip hotel is going to have that gigantic sprawl problem you mentioned. You're right, they're not very disability-friendly.

The larger locals' casinos, such as Red Rock, M, South Point, Orleans, etc. etc. have all the amenities the Strip joints have, but at a fraction of the cost. They all have pools, and some are very nice indeed (Green Valley Ranch springs to mind). Many of them have game arcades, movie multiplexes, bowling alleys, etc. etc. And because so many of their customers are local seniors, their accomodations for disabled people are usually excellent.

Here's my recommendation: South Point. They have everything you want, including a large and very nice pool. While the property is large, it's easy to get around (and they'll provide a scooter). It has several excellent restaurants, including one of the last few operational buffets (not a trivial consideration when feeding three teenagers!), a movie multiplex, and the rooms are large and very nice. I can personally attest to the fact that their ADA rooms are well thought out, and they have quite a few of them.

Green Valley Ranch or the M might also work well for you. Definitely, you'll pay less for a room there than you would on the Strip. The only negative is that those places are somewhat isolated (as is South Point, to a lesser extent), and not within walking distance of other attractions like downtown or on the Strip. But they have everything you need to keep everybody entertained for a long weekend, at least.

Kevin provides great info.  I've visited Green Valley and M, but have never stayed there.  I have stayed at Red Rock and loved it.  The pool is great, movie theater, plenty of restaurants and, as Kevin mentions, it's islolated.  This isolation may or may not be an issue for you.  Frankly, I think the place would offer everything to keep you guys happy for three days without ever leaving the property.  There are a bunch of additional offsite restaurants within 1/4 mile walk south of Red Rock property.

In my opinion, the price difference between this property and the Strip properties has decreased over the years.  I still think it would be a good choice, however.

Take a peak at Tuscany.   They have a a beautiful lagoon style pool.  You're close to the strip (about 3 block walk)  but the crowd at Tuscamy is very quiet and laid back.  Not as many drunken morons to subject your kids to.     Rooms are very large with plenty of handicap access to the casino.

I think for your specific needs, Kevin pointed you in the right direction. If I were taking the teens, I would like idea of isolating them away from the strip to minimize the trouble they can get into. And your dad would get the benefit of better gambling.
