First time stay at Cromwell. Please advise!

Discovered 5 days comped in my TR last month for the Cromwell, and convinced the wife to switch our anniversary trip from a Paris to Cromwell.  It’s the only CET property that I’ve never stayed in so in less than 4 weeks I can check this off of my bucket list .

Looking for guidance on things like , what rooms/floors to avoid, what rooms have a great view, what ( if anything ) is done for diamond members ( since they don’t have a Diamond lounge) and why do you like the Cromwell.

 Thanks in advance!

stayed there many years ago when it was called the barbary coast, cet bought and renamed it-----i like the layout of the casino-hotel-----it is small by strip standards,624rooms,everything is close-------self-parking and valet are near check-in which is near the elevator which takes you to your room -----

the rooms facing ballys have a good view but there is noise from the street at nite, believe it is only 6 stories ,even the highest room can hear the traffic sounds to include sirens from emergency vehicles-----the rooms facing flamingo have less of a view but are quiet------there is a small window in the shower which opens which i thought was neat, believe the orleans has the same feature

short walk to the diamond lounges at flamingo and ballys as well as harrahs and paris

with a diamond card you can avoid the parking fees-----

located in a central location to other cet properties

IMHO, expect lot of noise from Drai's Nightclub & the people who frequent it.

Also, IMHO, Giada's restaurant is the only reason to go there.

Just my opinion, I'd rather stay at Paris.

Anniversary trip?  Switch back to Paris.  Wait to do Cromwell another time.

Like dukeofdarby, I stayed there years ago when it was Barbary Coast.

The worst thing was the tiny bathroom, I'm talking tiny.  No tub, shower only.  No room on the vanity for our stuff.  A slit of a window which cranked open (helped with the fog).  Barely room to turn around.  Hopefully the bathrooms are also improved, larger, but I personally wouldn't count on it.

Hope you get a better report from someone who has stayed there more recently.

Paris is much nicer.  The small bathroom at BC would be the deal breaker.

I stayed there when it was Bill's. I had a room on the 4th floor facing Bally's. The window in the shower is good for people watching below, and being able to open it is something I've also seen at other "Coast" hotel casinos. I happen to like the smaller casinos. It isn't a long walk to anything in the place. From what I've seen as to room prices, they have more than doubled since the Barbary Coast/Bill's days.

When they first opened the Cromwell they tried selling it as an ultra-luxury high end place.   I dont think that worked out too well.   The prices have come way down since they opened - probably because the sq footage of the rooms is still on the small side.   But I think you'll find the rooms to be pretty plush.

As mentioned, the bathroom is really tight. It suffers from the remodel problem that the older motels and hotels have. Just too expensive to change sewer pipes to allow bath expansion.

We have not stayed at Cromwell since name change. We do gamble here on our stays some. Nice layout and employees are on the very friendly side. Drink service typically good as well.

if you are looking for a change from the ultra big hotels it is a nice change.

Stayed there when it became Cromwell.  Rooms are very dark...with the lighting in the room, it was very diffcult to read a newspaper.  Bathroom unremarkable.  If you want ice, you have to call RS and they bring it to you.  Limited food outlets although I hear they have added a breakfast option.  Would choose Paris or Caesars for sure if all were the same $$.

FYI, they have nice coffee machines in the elevator lobby but only on two floors--the 5 and 7th, I think.  expresso, cappucino, hot chocolate, etc.

the bathroom door is a solid wood sliding "barn door."  because there would be no room for a conventional door.

The single window in the room was only 2-3 feet wide--not really a very good strip view like you can get elsewhere.  Dark rooms, but very romantic/dark/funky.  Not much shelf/counter space.

I like the casino and the staff, and it was OK for me travelling alone.  I stay elsewhere since.

correction--I just read that Cromwell removed the coffee stations.
