Flamingo or Harrah's

What's everyone's or anyone's opinion on which is the best hotel to stay at as far as the CET casino's are concerned? We will be in Vegas toward the end of Dec. and first part of Jan. Any ideas?

You'll be pretty happy with either of those.    Room quality, price, and location are about the same.    Sounds like you'll be there New Years Eve - its going to be crowded like nothing you've ever seen on that day

Both of those you mention have some newly renovated rooms. See if you can get one of those.

Of course the BEST CET hotel would be Caesars or Cromwell....but I often stay at Bally's because I can't get comps at the others.  I find Bally's very comfortable.

Thank you for your replies, I'll be at Sam's Town for New Years, but would like to stay at one of those two on the strip before we go to Sam's. I have stayed at Caesars but it was quite a few years ago. Neither the wife or I really cared for it, the rooms were fantastic but the whole building was huge, and it was a very long walk just to get to the elevators. They did ask if we wanted bell service, but like a dummy I said no we can handle it. Should've used bell.

Ha...yes. I have had to learn that the hard way. There is no shame in asking for help.

And I agree that Caesars is overwhelming. Harrah's, Flamingo, Bally's, Paris etc are all more manageable.

Which one did you end up at?  What did you think?

We stayed at Harrah's 12-26 and checked out the 29th. The rooms were great and they made sure we had plenty of coffee and water in our room. All the employee's were friendly and helpful, overall it was a good visit. The casino wasn't bad although it was very crowded, the street of course was full of people and hard to walk from one place to the next. I guess I just don't like crowds. I also had a $100 food voucher to use by the end of the year, so we went to Ruth's Chris. We've never been there and didn't know what to expect, the prices were'nt on the menu by the elevator that you took to get to the second floor were the restaurant was located.  Needless to say, the $100 didn't come close to total cost, and we really didn't think the steaks were that good for the price. We probably won't go to Ruth's Chris again, even if I get another $100 voucher. Sam's Town was were we ended up for NYE, had a great time there. Good food at a reasonable price, bartenders are great and it just seems more laid back than the strip. VP machines have better pay schedules and there seems to be an older crowd that plays there. The other places we stayed at are Orleans, Sun Coast, Gold Coast and then Harrah's along with Aquarius in Laughlin. On the way home we also stopped at Delta Downs in LA and Harrah's and the IP in Biloxi MS. then north to Harrah's in Tunica MS, Harrha's in Metropolis (home of Superman) IL and finally Blue Chip in Michigan City IN before reaching our house in mid Michigan. We had a great time, but it was nice to be home!
