Free Cruise from Harrah's - Anyone ever do this?

The free cruise promotion (Norwegian Cruse lines I think) is coming up in a couple of weeks at Harrah's in Vegas. Has anyone ever taken advantage of this offer? I was just wondering if it was worth my time and $ to fly out to get this promotion? Thanks to all for your time.
Yes--my husband got an offer over Labor Day and he went to LV to pick up the certificate. We decided to go on the Alaskan cruise in early June. We paid $348 each. We have to pay our own airfare. It is for an inside stateroom, but upgrades are available if you want to pay.

I have been on two cruises before, both on RCL. I enjoyed those immensely.

Oh--we also get a "free drinks while gambling" coupon. I will let everyone know how things went when we get back.

I picked up my free cruise certificate at Harrah's Rincon on December 11 and booked the 7 night Alaska cruise for August 21. We paid the same taxes and fees that Joy did, $348 each, and our certificate was also for an inside cabin. We chose to upgrade to a mini-suite for an additional $1200 and also added on an $89 per person charge for travel insurance.

I was told that we would get a "casino package" that included a drink card. The girl said you could go into the casino any time it was open and get free drinks.

Also, if you upgrade your cabin they only take a $250 per person deposit at the time of booking. The remainder of the balance is due 75 days before departure.
I'm taking an Alaska cruise with mine. I upgraded to a balcony for $600.

Those sound like some expensive upgrade charges.

But if you can inexpensively upgrade from Inside to Outside cabin?
I would.

Keep in mind which Side of ship you might want to be on
for best views.

And there's less Up & down movement, if you book a cabin, Mid-ship.
The upgrade charges are less than if you bought them directly through NCL. They do give a discount for casino bookings. Personally, I think it's well worth the $1200 upgrade to a mini-suite for a 7 night stay. I don't think I would fare well in one of the tiny staterooms.
Mare, where is the departure point for the Alaskan cruise? I may still be able to locate my cruise offer although I think it went into the shedder last night while I purged my older offers.

Edit: I found my offer, see I needed to pick up certificate at Rincon in December. That's what I get for not asking my LVA friends for information before I ignored the offer.

Would still like to know departure point for cruise.
Sorry you weren't able to get the cruise certificate.

The departure port is Seattle.
Thank you for info. Cruise would have been nice for this year. My investment plan for 2010 is to stay home a little more and visit casinos a little less. I might just be able to keep to that plan through March.
We got an offer at Horseshoe Tunica. Have to show up there at the end of Jan to get our certificates - this one is good ONLY for a 7 day cruise out of New Orleans, but comes with two nights in New Orleans Harrah and some sort of party there as well. I think this one actually covers the taxes which is nice.

We have done NCL many times and if you are a casino guest you get free drinks while playing. Others do not. To learn way more than you ever want to know about NCL, go to cruisecritic.com and click on Norwiegen
