Yes, it's called tipping. When you get to the ticket taker at the door, you discretely slip him/her a $10 or $20 and ask subtly "do you have anything better?" They'll take care of you. This alone is a gamble as sometimes they don't fill the theater and they move people forward anyway. But, a $20 will almost guarantee two of you booth seating up close.
If somehow you don't get to pass the bill up front, or you want to gamble that maybe your seats are OK and they aren't, you slip the bill to the person who seats you and ask "can you get us closer?" or whatever you want. Sometimes the seater will have to go check with somebody but will come back and move you to better seats.
