free rooms at the riv is for real

not that it matters, I've gone twice without hitting 'enter' after title-ing a post, oorah. Anyway, I was outta town when the news on riviera giving away rooms was posted. I didnt expect to get through to reservations, but did and didn't expect availability for my dates (based on higher rates/convention traffic mid-april) But Did!. Now, I dont hope to be the low rolling expert in LVA, but if the riv has something to play in my denomination (25c) I hope to experience a magical stay-free, and money- for -nothing spring. And good luck to you!
I booked Wed and Thurs for free, got a rate of $35 for Fri and Sat, and wife then called and got Mon and Tues for free in June. 6 nights including a weekend stay for $70 is pretty good.
THX for posting this,,booked my 2 days yesterday..ssssaaawwweeeettt
Are there any other hidden fees there (Energy Surcharge Fee, Cancellation Fee, Resort Fee) or is there some kind of room tax involved?

I'm now seeing that at least according to the Cheapo Vegas website, Riviera charges a $7 per night Resort Fee.

DUMP ALERT!!

.... it's the Riviera..!!! ick
It's whole vibe/theme is depressing

it's where you'd go to kill yourself (if you're so inclined..) Not a place to vacation.
Listen,
I'm cheap ..er..um ...frugal and I wouldn't think of staying there!!!
if I recall, beg bugs staged a protest/strike for better living conditions in front of the place last year-- anyone remember that!?!!..Sue?
should be called "LAST RESORT!":<;
riv, shmiv. I have criteria for free. If theres running water, and no obvious corpse, I stay. But thanks for the warning, cat. I dunno when i was more surprised than when i found the west tower at circus circus to be....good. I'll be sure to post on the riv when I'm back. Good luck!
For anyone who's interested, if you book the free room at the Riv, there is no resort fee charged. I just got off the phone with someone who verified that.

I booked booked 2 free nights for May. I see their cheapest tower is all smoking rooms. I'm hoping that I can request a non-smoking room and get assurance that if one is available I would be eligible to get one.
