Great Race for Rewards 2012?

Looks like they have solved the problem of playing other people's cards. Last year, I was able to take cards from people in my family who could not travel with me. No way I will be able to multiple cards now.

When people abuse a program, you know the next time the company will adjust and spoil it for everyone else. Not only did they make it so that you could only use your own cards, but they also made it much harder to earn the comps (more locations having to visit, bunching locations together like Reno and Tahoe, and having to earn 25 points instead of only 1). If I was not going to do a cross country trip anyway, I would have just skipped this promotion this year - not worth the effort IMO.

Posting requests for card swapping on Vegas message boards did not help either. At Laughlin last year, the TR person told me that people were coming in and swiping 20-30 cards at a time - of course they would address this next time! You would hope people would use some common sense about this - after all, you KNOW these boards are monitored by the big companies.

I wish they were consistent at all properties, Is it fair that people in the East, South and Midwest can swipe for others but not in the West?

Is it fair that properties in the East or South that are an hour or so away from each other count as separate locations when Vegas/Laughlin and Ak-Chin/Rincon don't? I wonder if CET management has realized the reverse effect of combining these markets. If Ak-Chin/Rincon and Laughlin/Vegas were separate markets, I would find a way to visit all. Since I receive no benefit in the Great Race for visiting both, why bother? I currently have a couple nights planned for a low key getaway in Laughlin and am considering switching one night to Vegas. Thanks to the brilliant marketing of having Vegas/Laughlin the same market, if I go to Vegas, I'll stay/play at Green Valley Ranch and not visit a CET property. For those who may not be familiar, it's a 6-7 hour drive from Ak-Chin to Harrahs Rincon with minimal stops. Whose brilliant idea was to have these 2 properties in the same market? CET, are you listening?

I'm still waiting for Harrah's to send me about $600 in airfare so I can earn $500 in comps.

I hear you Lisa, I would love to know what they were thinking. Ak-Chin and Rincon being combined is just crazy.
Also, I hear Laughlin is hurting for business and so the answer is to combined with Vegas? I also do not get it.

Tahoe/ Reno I can see but 1 point???

In my humble opinion, Tahoe/Reno is no different than Chester/Atlantic City or even NOLA and Biloxi.

I agree with that Lisa about Tahoe/ Reno, I just meant I know they are close. Like you said, if they could only be consistent at all properties!

Edited to add; I feel like the west coast Is the red headed step child!

Perhaps they should consult with us the next time they plan a promotion.

I'm looking at this from the perspective of which airport do most people fly to when they go to Tahoe, Atlantic City or Biloxi?
The company I work for just just rolled out new computer software that took 5 years to build and over million was spent. They did not consult the users!! it's been a nightmare.
I can only imagine, LOL
