Great Race for Rewards 2012?

did an ac -chester run as well as a vegas-laughlin run last year for myself and wife and several other posters who needed play and returned the favor in their area----- so that $600 comp dollars were awarded---everybody happy---

find it interesting that they combine vegas-laughlin but not ac-chester[which by the way is now called harrahs philadelphia]since the distance and travel time is about the same----in fact ac to chester is 70 miles and can be done in 11/2 hrs while vegas -laughlin is 90 miles and closer to 2 hrs from downtown vegas

the only area that had full pay vp was ac----the other 3 only short pay----did not mind playing the short pay to accumalate the 1 point needed---

if i were a slot player would do these runs again for at least the $100-----however as i see it one could easily get a negative total return trying to get the minimum 25 points playing the short pay vp games to include the $100 rc bonus or close to a wash for the effort if one considered cost of gas and tolls from ac to chester---

I am disapointed in this. The prices of the airfare or car rentals exceeds the comps rewarded. We won't bother.

I agree. Not worth booking a separate trip. LY, we had travel plans that coincided with the great race.

If they had just left Laughlin in - even at one point - when added to Las Vegas, we would only need one more destination. We do have one drivable 2-point destination, Bossier City. Now we won't even go there.

I guess HET/CET doesn't realize that for the residents of some parts of the country (Texas), just about any destination requires a flight and a car rental.

As an Okie, I am thinking of doing Bossier City, New Oreans, Biloxi, and Tunica over 4 days. Total 9 points. I should have 6 from my SE Indiana, St Louis, KC and a trip to Tahoe (already scheduled and paid for) for 15 total points!

The official site is ready. It has the rules, a FAQ list, even a map. One thing I noticed is that Joliet, Hammond, and Metropolis are all blacked out July 1-14. Perhaps they need more training?
I thought an interesting change was having to show ID at each property.
OK i am even more confused now . Darn CET Reading this below why do you have to visit Paris LV and Harrahs Laughlin to earn 3 ck points, but if you visit Caesars LV, Flamingo LV and Harrahs Laughlin it is only 2 points. this doesn't make sense to me anyone else?

cut and pasted from the web site
What are some examples of trips that would enable me to receive Reward Credits?
If you visit:

Paris Las Vegas and Harrah's Laughlin (3 CheckPoints)
Harrah's North Kansas City (2 CheckPoints)
Harrah's St. Louis (1 CheckPoint)
You would earn 6 CheckPoints and receive 10,000 Reward Credits

If you visit:

Caesars Atlantic City and Bally's Atlantic City (2 CheckPoints)
Harrah's Philadelphia (2 CheckPoints)
Harrah's New Orleans (2 CheckPoints)
Grand Biloxi (2 CheckPoints)
You would earn 8 CheckPoints and receive 25,000 Reward Credits

What are some examples of trips that would not enable me to receive Reward Credits?
If you visit:

Paris Las Vegas and Harrah's Laughlin (3 CheckPoints)
Harrah's Ak-Chin and Harrah's Rincon (2 CheckPoints)
You would earn 5 CheckPoints and need 1 more CheckPoint to qualify

If you visit:

Harrah's Lake Tahoe and Harrah's Reno (1 CheckPoint)
Caesars Palace Las Vegas, Flamingo Las Vegas and Harrah's Laughlin (2 CheckPoints)
You would earn 3 CheckPoints and need 3 more CheckPoints to qualify.

It doesn't actually say exactly that, it says you can use a kiosk which would not require a valid ID, but you DO have to opt in at every property and some properties might not have Kiosks which would mean you would need an ID.

Guests must opt in at a property via a Total Rewards card swipe at a promotional kiosk or TR center (varies by property) and show valid approved ID. Total Rewards membership is free and available by visiting a Total Rewards casino or signing up at TotalRewards.com.

HOW DO I OPT-IN?
You must swipe your Total Rewards card at a Promotional Kiosk, or at a Total Rewards center. You must opt-in at each destination you visit.
To participate, you must swipe in between July 1, 2012 – September 30, 2012.

It should read Paris Las Vegas and/OR Harrah's Laughlin (3 CheckPoints)

but it doesn't , and it also says " Caesars Palace Las Vegas, Flamingo Las Vegas and Harrah's Laughlin (2 CheckPoints)"
