Great Race for Rewards 2012?

I agree with MissL, everything we said was 5 hours is probably 6+ hours.

I strongly recommend making this trip not about Harrah's, but about the USA travel experience. I already mentioned the New Orleans food {fried oyster po'boy?}.

Also:

If you go to Council Bluffs, Iowa, also go to the Iowa State Fair, 2 hrs 15 min away in Des Moines, Aug 9-19. Wonderful drive through countryside, corn and soybeans in varying shades of green (better than a Grant Wood painting). Beautiful landscapes. Pork chops on a stick! Highly recommended (And I am from the "other" state fair state, Texas!).

These things are far more important to me than Harrah's comps. You can have both. Graceland, anyone?

I just returned from a wonderful trip to New Orleans and there is a slight chance I may travel east (wedding) after the great race ends. As enticing as spending 3-4 weeks driving across country sounds, I agree, seeing the landscape would be fun, earning $750 in comp dollars no way offsets the loss of income from when I quit my full time job.
Any fellow Canadians from Windsor wanting to swap cards? We are heading to LV in two weeks.
I have to agree. I hate the drive to FL and would normally ship my car at a cost of 840. I figure I can drive do some sight seeing, visit friends, eat some good BBQ and get 750 in CET comps. I would love to spend more time in NOLA but man the room rates killed me 200 for a weekday? That really defeats the purpose.

As far as off work time. I am retired so no worries. It's only the gas , the gambling and hotel. So far that is about 300. Still a net savings of over 500 even without the Race promo. OK the gambling isn't included :>). I tried to break up the drive to about 4 hours a day but that doesn't always work.

It was posted elsewhere in the forums that St Louis is using a kiosk. A friend told me she didn't see any kiosks in Kansas City and that there was a long line at the Total Rewards center.
Things do seem kind of skewed toward the east coasters this summer. We did not participate last year despite having been many of the markets; just not within the time span. This year will be able to get to Vegas, Tahoe and Ak-Chin easily but as someone pointed out they are really punishing Laughlin and Rincon by combining them with other areas. We just got back from Laughlin and have no reason to go back since it is combined with Vegas. We will also be in San Diego this month but it's so not worth the effort to get up to Rincon. Should have made them separate markets...

I agree they should be separate. I feel bad for the people from California. They are probably Harrah's best customers in Las Vegas.

I did the drive to Rincon on Google maps. Yikes!!!!

Maybe KC hasn't got their up and running yet. Last year they had a set of 4 kiosks right near the TR desk. I'll be going up in the next couple of weeks so I see if they are running at that time.

Arizonans are their 2nd!

If you're into exploring and enjoy driving on winding mountain roads, North San Diego County has lots to offer.

I checked the LAS casinos and there were no Kiosks that I saw. Checked every casino except Caesars. Of course this was just yesterday so perhaps they haven't had a chance to get them out yet?
