Harrah's Bait and Switch

Works wonders for the person giving and accepting the $20, doesn't work so well for the person who no longer gets the room type they reserved because it was given away for $20.
The bottom line is if someone reserves a room and is there by or before as I was, the scheduled check in of 4 PM, their room should be there. I would even give an hour leeway. Afterwards unless prior arraignments were made, then yes, give the room away. If the room is not available at or before 4 PM, the hotel should suck it up and upgrade, not downgrade.
Definitely agree. You were there on time and had your confirmed reservation for a certain room type. I always take a copy and then confirm the room type before I leave check-in.
I was recently checking on making a reservation at Aria and saw a $30 charge if I wanted to guarantee room preferences such as high/low floor, near
elevator, etc. What is with that? Is that going to be the next thing that spreads like the resort fees did?

Just another money grab. Don't do it. You'll probably get your preference anyway.
