Harrahs/Harveys Lake Tahoe

Going there for 2 nights in a couple of weeks. Anything special to do/see? We have seen the Pondarosa Ranch, Emerald Bay and taken a boat ride across the lake.

Also, how is the Video Poker? Bonus and JOB. How about video Blackjack?

Diamond Lounges? One or both hotels and which is better if two.

If you're into hiking or mountain bike riding, there's PLENTY to do in Lake Tahoe.

The VP is nothing to write home about - remember, they're both Harrah's properties, but the pay schedules aren't horrible, either.

Either hotel is nice, but Harrahs is the nicer of the two.

I'm not Diamond, so I don't know how the Lounges are, but I think there's only one, and it's at Harrahs

Hope this helps - Dave
When I'm there in the summer, I always schedule a trip on the Tahoe Star. Spend an afternoon and take the Heavenly Gondola up the mountain. Be sure to get off at the first stop as the gondola does not stop there on the way down. Harvey's pay tables might be a tad better, however, I've found the VP at Harrahs to be generous. Diamond Lounge is open 7 days/week at Harrahs. You need to have your card coded for entry and I believe it closes early like at 8 pm. I've heard the DL is open at Harveys only on the weekend. I've only stayed at Harrahs and like their Executive Rooms. Last summer, they gave me a complimentary upgrade to a suite with a jetted tub.
Dave:

Alas the Pondersosa Ranch is history. I took my kids there twenty five years ago but it is no longer operating. As far as Harveys....ask for one of the remodeled rooms. THe new ones have a nicer bed and a flatscreen TV and I would ask for a lake view.

THe DL is open Thurs-Sun from 4-9 and is accessible by an elevator next to the Rewards Center. Nice soup and sandwiches, veggies and chips, and usually a hot little something. At Harrah$$, THere is a carving station at what is called the Presidents Lounge on the 16th floor (open to Diamond and 7*) Friday and Saturday from 4-6. Very nice little loft upstairs overlooking the lake. As far as the DL at Harrahs....I personally haven't had much luck as sometimes there is NO food and sometimes it's only chips and pretzels. WOrth a look though.

The pay skeds are better at Harveys and I have had better luck there. In the morning/afternoon at the California Bar there is a bartender named Greg who will take good care of you. And from 11-6pm, Paul has been at the Heavenly Bar forever. He meets you once and will remember you five years later. I have had good luck at this bar.

Wow, what else to do. I usually take a little drive around the lake. There is horseback riding at the Zepher Cove stables. Diamond can score a trip on a Harrahs boat (but I have never done it. ) There is a little comedy club and Diamond gets you two tix. And right now, there is a summer concert series right next to Harveys. Oh, there is also a place called Sand harbor that has Shakespere and other events. It is about 15 miles away, near Incline VIllage. If you go, make sure and take a sweater!

Enjoy the beautiful scenery and the clean air!

don't know your betting levels but there's plenty of full pay in both harrahs and harveys h/l room. i really don't know much about outside the h/l rooms. i would recommend sage room, 19 and friday's station for dinner. all are excellent. the harveys dl is much nicer as its view of the lake is gorgeous
