Harrahs - Kansas City

We will be there for the first time for the first round of the NCAA basketball tournament next month. Anyone with any experience here? We will be staying for four nights. How are the rooms, is the place clean and safe...any tips on food? Thanks in advance.
Rooms are pretty standard for a Harrahs property. Request 10th floor if possible. Even though it is a "suite" floor, the standard rooms seem to be larger IMHO. All rooms have small coffee pot and a small refrigerator. Valet parking and bell staff are very prompt and courteous. Dining options are limited at the Harrahs and info is available on the website. Approximately 5 miles away (10 minutes) is Ameristar Casino which has several other dining options. Safety wise, you shouldn't have any concerns at either Casino. If you have any specific questions, send me a PM.
We stayed there in August 2012. We had a junior suite which was very spacious and clean.

We are at Jack stack Barbecue off the property and Triple D place for bbq. I wasnt that far from the hotel..Also ate at their Steakhouse which was good.

We've stayed here many times. As everyone else said rooms are pretty standard, but very well kept and clean. Very friendly staff every where you go on property. As for food....we no long eat at their buffet, but it has undergone a recent upgrade and renovation. I would recommmend the 810 Zone sports bar for burgers or sandwiches....wife and I always eat there once during our stays. HIGHLY reccommend the Italian restaurant Mike and Charles. The snack bar at the entance to the casino is a great and affordable option for a quick bit to eat. Their breakfast was surpsingly good for the money. If you're planning on gambling their video poker is terrible. Worth the drive over to The Ameristar for better gambling and also good food options. Ameristar buffet is by far the best in KC! If your interested in some classic KC BBQ Arthur Bryants as well.

Thank you very much for the info. When playing slot machines, we play VP and have an Ameristar here in STL so we have cards there...we will make that trip.

Glad to hear about the sports bar as we are going for the NCAA tournament and will be there Thursday and Saturday since the games in KC are on Friday and Sunday.

Kansas City is pretty much a VP wasteland, save the dollar plays at Isle of Capri, which are excellent. Too bad, because it used to be super--lot's of full pay PKM, All American, 9/6 Jacks and NSUD. Seems like all the casinos have decided to all coordinate in a race to the bottom.

Harrah's buffet is good, but the VP is horrible. Ameristar's buffet is good, but the VP is horrible save some 9/7 DB at a couple of bars. The sports bar at Ameristar is also quite good. The Isle buffet is pretty mediocre. Seafood nights on Friday and Saturday are passable--good shrimp and crab. Hollywood at the race track is another VP dumping ground. Their sister casino Argosy is no better.

We now live for trips to Vegas and Tunica.
