Harrah's Loses Another Customer

Here's my reason.

I booked a room at Harrah's using my Total Rewards number. Not a free room, but a reduced rate. On a lark, I checked Kayak.com and found an even lower rate, about 20% less. No special codes, not part of a package, none of that. Just a lower rate available to the general public.

CET has a Best Rate Guarantee program: find a lower rate elsewhere, and Harrah's will match it, and then cut that by an additional 10%.

My submitted claim, however, was denied. Why? They say it's because the rate I booked via Harrahs.com was discounted due to Total Rewards. Not the Kayak.com rate, the Harrahs.com one.

Of course that's completely ass-backwards. Apparently I should have booked an undiscounted, super-high rate with Harrah's and used that for comparison. Which is ridiculous, because then the 10% discount would be even greater.

I called the Best Rate Guarantee program, but they told me the same thing, that my Harrahs.com rate needed to be undiscounted for the program to apply.

Caesars management is incompetent, and their coming downfall can't come soon enough for me.

They would have honored your claim if you were not a liberal.
Could you have cancelled your Harrah's discounted rate and booked it standard rate?
Yes. Then after I rebooked at the even higher Harrahs.com rate I could have spent another 15 minutes completing, scanning, and emailing a new claim form only to get a different preposterous denial.

We're just talking $40 or so. I'll go elsewhere.

How will Harrah's ever survive?
Bobbyb,

With all due respect, it is comments like yours that cause many of us to NOT participate in these boards. Folks state what happens to give information to others and when comments make them feel badly, or they are belittled, they stop sharing and we all lose. Your comment is verbal bullying and disrespectful. It hurts everyone trying to share.

Amen.Totally agree.
over the years I have found harrahs to be bottom-line and not consumer oriented-----am a diamond card holder ,can get very little info from the total rewards desk clerks and not that heavy of a player to get an assigned host even though diamond----
Concerning Bobbyb's post, I could agree with the others who say his comment was inappropriate except that if you consider Chilcoot's record of comments against other posters, Bobbyb was mild in what he said.

As far as Harrahs and how they treat players, I have found that is very property dependent. If they are hungry for players they will court you. An example is Council Bluffs. The Horseshoe and Harrahs treat Diamond players quite different as far as comps and offers. In Kansas City, Harrahs isn't really hungry but with the competition expanding that could change. Tunica is another example with the Horseshoe, Roadhouse and Harrahs offering quite different comps or none at all.
