Ask for a Mardi Gras tower room overlooking the Mirage Volcano. Excellent view, an easy score, not really an upgrade, Strip view. You can always ask for a Strip view.
Many think the Carnival Tower is better, but we liked the Mardi Gras Tower. Carnival can be noisy, and Strip views in Carnival are like...a partial if you crane your neck, if you get my drift.
Buffet was decent a couple years ago.
Rooms are basic but nice enough. Diamond Lounge is good. Check the hours. They serve food (actually heavy hors d' oeuvres) a short window of time, but can be a budget saver. Before and after they generally have chips and dip, etc. Drinks are good, call brands available. Tip after you are done, depending on how much you worked the server, etc. This DL used to serve 'breakfast' on weekends, but haven't been there in a long time. You can actually eat at any of the CET Diamond Lounges, you and one guest. Try several. We liked Paris DL. Caesars DL can be a cattle drive at food time, hard to get a table. Which ever one you go to, find out what time the food is brought out and get in there early, get a table.
Their primo rooms are called Executive Suites. You could ask, but odds are long for getting one first stay. Unless you are trying to impress a traveling companion nothing worth worrying about.
Years ago they had "mini-suites" which were pretty much the basic room with a few extra square feet and an extra couch.
Mac King afternoon comedy magic show (at Harrah's) is one of, if not THE, most long running shows. Family clean, he is truly funny...corny magic but funny. Not real expensive.
Check at Total Rewards to see what CET shows are free or 2-fers while you are there. They will explain how to go about getting tickets.
Have fun and good luck!
