Harrahs Rincon - San Diego

GREAT! Thanks for the buffet info. We are going to play there anyway, so this is a great deal for us. Do you know if you can do morethan one per stay (like per day)? We will be staying for 2 nights.

Last year I was at Horseshoe in Bossier and did not know of the free buffet deal there until it was too late, so I do appreciate this upfront knowledge.

One per person per day Sun thru Thurs.
This is good deal as they have Med to Large
cold Snow Crab which they will heat up for
you Yum
The rooms at Rincon are nice. The Garden tower rooms may be newer, but I prefer the Spa Tower rooms. I think you will enjoy your stay there, but expect to drive an hour to get to San Diego. Rush hour begins in mid afternoon when the military bases are changing shifts so plan accordingly.
You're also barely 10 miles from the San Diego Zoo Safari Park that I usually always visit to watch their baby elephants frolic when I am at Harrah's, and not from the safari Park is Mike's BBQ - www.mikesbbq.us - where I indulge in good barbecue but it's their incredible sweet potato fries that keep bringing me back.

Whatever you do, you'll have a great time, it's a wonderful area to visit.

I think Rincon's buffet is the best around since they revamped it.I think it's only $10 w/a diamond card.

The Garden tower is older but the rooms have been remodeled. I prefer them to the spa tower especially if you get a pool facing room with sliding door.

I was there a couple weekends ago for the Incubus concert, which was very good.

They've changed the pool are a bit and put in large lounge-type beds that you can rent. I think they're a waste of space as no one seems to rent
them.

The wild animal park may be 10 miles away but it will probably take you 20-30 minutes to get there.
Back from Rincon! Thanks for all the suggestions.

Nice room in the Garden Tower. Easy access to casino, but a walk to the front desk.

Buffets - free with 25 base TR points earned per day (no problem for us!). No breakfast buffet on weekdays though. Valley View - free lobster buffet for new signups. Great buffet (better than Harrahs by far).

Gambling - Harrahs had LOTS of 8/5 Bonus VP machines, but they were not kind to us. Jacks also 8/5?? At Valley View Casino, VP was POOR - few machines and 7/5 Bonus. Harrahs much nicer place to gamble IMO, but Valley View was definately busier?

Went to Palamar - very interesting and the drive up and down was a bit crazy (very winding road).

Thanks again.
Thanks for the report back Dave. You got some great info in your thread for SD Rincon.
And it looks like skipping Palomar, might be a good idea.
(For people like me that don't appreciate winding roads) lol
I really liked Palomar. Then, I enjoy driving on very winding roads.
I wish I had my Harley for the Palomar trip! It would have been a great ride. There were a number of bikers going up and down the windy road.

I'm like you, so anyone that hates winding, switchback roads with steep dropoff's should avoid Palomar Mtn.
