Harrahs STL Sold

In the paper today that Harrahs in St Louis has been sold to Penn National and will become an Argosy property. They haven't put much money into the property over the past five years and Caesars said the sale was made to free up cash for other projects.

This may be a trend to consolidate operations to Vegas and the foreign markets.
Dang it....one of the few Harrah's properties in the mid-west I like to go to. They have been very generous in their offers for what few times we've visited. We actually were going to use three free nights this summer.......
St Louis really made you feel like they valued you as a player, unlike Harrahs Joliet, or Las Vegas. I will really miss them. I also heard Horseshoe, Indiana is up for sale.
The article I read said the deal wouldn't be complete until year end. There shouldn't be problems with rooms this summer, unless CET themselves stop the comps.

Sucks for me as STL is my home casino. I'm diamond, but there's no way I will make diamond with just my LV play. I used to be an Ameristar player in STL, but they were skimpy on their room comps (2 free per month vs 3 free per week, or more, at Harrahs) AND my play in STL got me started with some really great room comps in LV.

Not sure what I will do. Will make sure I hit diamond again this year so I have another year of the benefits at CET. The diamond benefits have been downgraded, but I sure like the ones I still get!

I agree. St. Louis is my home casino also. Have to travel to Joliet or Metropolis now, which is 4/3 hours away. I guess Harrahs/Caesars LV don't want our midwest dollars!
Hammond or Southern Indiana Horseshoe??

Joy
The person I heard it from wasn't sure but thinks it's Hammond
I would be really surprised if they sell Hammond. It is by far the busiest and most profitable of all the Indiana casinos and it doesn't even have a hotel.
CET needs the money so I think any non-Nevada casino can be had at this point.

For those of you in STL, I live about 10mns from Harrahs. Ameristar is not too far away but, we like River City and they offer very good comps...no hotel there yet.

The 3-Card Poker dealer at Harrahs last week said they haven't heard anything about their jobs yet. Penn National bought the M in Vegas and that resulted in a downward trend in the quality of comps, food and payouts.

If not a Harrahs property, there is no reason for us to visit this facility even though it is close.
Would really hate to see the Horseshoe Hammond sold. They have a GREAT poker room and have broken many attendance records for the WSOP circuits events.
