Help on Choosing Hotel

I've stayed at all of them. My 'home' in Las Vegas is Harrah's. Like said before, I like everything about the casino and have stayed there so much that I feel like it's home and am very comfortable there. But, for a one shot deal, I'd have to say Bally's North Tower.
Harrah's is smaller and friendlier. Getting out and around town is easier for automobile-enhanced people as you have better access to Desert Inn bypass, Spring Mtn Road, Flamingo. Harrah's restaurants are better than Bally's but not as good as Paris'...which is connected to Bally's.
If you have no car you have to think about what options you have for local walking, Bally's has great access to PH, Cosmopolitan and Bellagio whereas Harrah's has Mirage and Caesars. I think the walking access is better at Bally's.
So, room in the N Tower at Bally's, eat at Paris, and play...well, anywhere other than on the Strip!

OK, thanks to everyone for their input. I think I will try Bally's and request the North tower. It is pretty centrally located for wandering through Paris, Caesers and Planet Ho. which are all places I like.

If you stay at Bally's, the easiest way to cross the street to Bill's is to cross Flamingo at the crosswalk beside Bally's rather than go to the pedestrian overpass which is always congested and a longer walk. It is easily accessed by going out either the side door by the gift shop our going out the front door and turn right.

Just because you request the north tower doesn't mean you will get it. Not for free anyway. I was booking online once for a 4 night stay. I wanted the north tower so I called the total rewards number. I told the phone reservationist that if I couldn't have the north tower, I would prefer to stay at Harrah's. He told me that since I was staying midweek, there would be no problem comping me the north tower.

When I arrived it was a different story. The reservationist told me the north tower would cost me additional. I dont remember the amount, but think it was $20 or $30 per night. I made a big stink and asked for a supervisor. This usually gets you what you want. I told the supervisor what I was told by the phone reservationist. She didn't budge, telling me that the phone reservationist had no business offering me a north tower room.

I couldn't believe she didn't give in. After all, I wasn't asking for a penthouse suite, just a lousy north tower room midweek. Other posters have gotten north tower rooms for the asking. I guess I just ran into a couple nasty bitches that day.

Back to your original question, I would choose Bally's north tower first, followed by Harrah's second. Bally's south tower would be my third choice. Forget about Flamingo and IP.
Out of all of those choices I have only stayed at Rio. Not the best place, its super smokey. All of the rooms smell like smoke, even the non smoking rooms. I have heard nightmare stories about IP from different friends and people on this forum. I always hear pretty good things about Harahs and Ballys though. A friend of mine has been to almost every hotel on the strip and downtown. He only stays at Ballys. Good luck.
