Horseshow Cleveland

Did anyone go there yet? I am going to Cleveland to visit my family at the end of the month and may check it out if they have any good VP.
I wasn't able to check that many machines but at the level I play (.25) from what I saw it was pretty typical CET schedules. 7/5 Bonus, 9/6/5 DB and 8/5 DDB. They did have 8/6 Jacks or Better. Hopefully there are some better games that I missed, but I'm not optimistic.
At least it isnt terrible, just not good.
We looked it over pretty well. We talked to floor people. One guy said that they were supposed to have 4 9/6 JB which his mother had asked him about. He spent a lot of time trying to find out, but never did come up with any. The machines are all pretty much the same. Very nice uprights. Some had 8/5 JB and some had 8/6. I thought they were supposed to have bar poker. I didn't look, but some of the floor people said no bar poker. It was disappointing but not as bad as a lot of the other surrounding casinos. We looked in high limit and $5 JB was 8/6. The Casino is very nice. Diamond Lounge was very nice. Of course you pay for drinks. I had a glass of wine, a merlot which was $10 and hubby had a manhattan which was $5. The wines ranged from $3 for some pinot to something like maybe $12. We went in very late and they had no food. They said they would have appetizers. Hours will be something like 2:00 to 9:00 weekdays and 2:00 to 12:00 weekends.

Art, we met a guy by the TR booth who came from Cherokee. He said he will be in Cleveland, but will be moving on to Boston in a couple years when they open there. My husband talked to him quite a bit about the pay schedules for VP. He talked about how many times no one is playing the machines because many like us check those schedules. He and some of the others said they might eventually tweek them some. I would suggest that we should all let them know how we feel. They all were very helpful, but not sure who could do anything about it. Not sure it would do any good, but the more people ask they might do something. We have been going to HS Indiana and they at least have 9/6 JB & 8/5 BP as well as some other pretty good games. Maybe being a new Casino with new machines, they are geared with lower pay schedules. Also not sure if there is a State requirement like in West Virginia.

The buffet was very good. They have things like kilbasa & perch, some interesting salads and outstanding desserts with gelato bar. We ate late last night at Rocco's and had a very good pasta & meatball dish. They are only comping foods presently at the casino, but will expand in the future.

We stayed at the Renaissance and were surprised that they comped parking as I called the Casino and was told that they didn't comp it and to check into the hotel and then park at the Casino. The room was very small as they were in the good ole days. The bed was very comfortable, queen size. Tolietries were Aveda. We will be staying at the Ritz next month and not sure if their parking is comped as a lady we spoke to from PA said she got there early in the morning and stayed at the Ritz thinking that the Casino opened at 9:30am and had to have Valet park her car at the Casino. If anyone knows this, please share.

Judy, Thanks so much for the update. Cherokee Diamond lounge charges for drinks also. But prices not bad. $1 beers and $2 mixed drinks. I figured their VP wouldn't be great but may stay one night when in town. Glad they have get good old Cleveland food like kilbasa and Lake Erie perch. Did you play at all?

No free drinks. Geez. While I haven't seen the % breakdown for Ohio casinos, if it's anything like some of the new jurisdictions (such as PA) don't ever expect to have good games. PA Casinos pay PA 55%, yep, they give the state a bigger cut than they take themselves. Sort of a pet peeve of mine, but these new casino areas are just a 'money-grab' by the state; and basically screw the players. Can't give players reasonable comps+good games if the state is taking such a high percentage. *rant over* :-)
Yes, we did play. We did hav e a lot of quads, but of course if you don't get royals, it's hard to get anywhere. I did pretty well on 1 machine progressing from quarter to 50 to $.

I just saw on the news that beers and mixed drinks are around $4 on the floor. Lunch buffet is $13.99 for TR members. Dinner I think something like $24.99
sometimes state law forbids casinos from comping alcoholic beverages.
Ohio stte government has banned free alcoholic drinks in all of the state's casinos. Soft drinks are free at Horseshoe Cleveland.

I am stopping in this Sunday and will check out the diamond lounge. Curious if drink prices are lower in the DL.
