I stopped in Horseshoe yesterday, 5/20. Impressed with the decor, really nice. Since this was our first visit we we're just getting used to the layout. A few things of interest -
Parking is not attached to the casino. The parking garage and valet are across the street. You have to walk outside and cross the street to get to the nearest entrance. That entrance may not be available to you if you are not Platinum, Diamond or Seven Stars. You will have to walk around the corner for the gold/ non-card holder entrance. It was 11:00 a.m. Sunday morning when we went and there were no lines so anyone could use the designated Plat, Dia, 7* entrance. Those level players also have their own line/entrance at all other doors. We asked & there will be a elevated, covered walkway from the garage to the casino. That should be ready by December.
We used the valet which yesterday was only open to Diamond & 7*. There was a tribe game and traffic was heavy. I guess they wanted to be sure Diamond & 7* could park. Anyone could park in the garage but there was a long line to get in. Parking is free when playing 30 minutes or more and earning 15 credits.
Diamond Lounge didn't open until 4:00 and we left at 2:30 so will check that out next visit.
Drink service is via the Total Touch service screen on the slots. Non-alcoholic drinks are free. Service was pretty quick. Servers we're impressed we knew how to confirm drink was delivered on the Total Touch screen. Most players so far have no idea how to use it.
A lot of 2 cent machines. In fact all the big "titles", Clue, Grease, Sex and the City, Jokers Heist, are 2 cent with 40-80 minimum. That's .80-$1.60 minimum per spin. A bit of a turn off.
I did not look at table minimums as they were all packed. Heard a local morning radio show host, who is a Diamond card player from LV visits, talk about high minimums Fri night. BJ went from $10 to $25 per hand while he was playing last Friday night. He quit when the table min went to $50 late at night. No grandfathering so he moved on.
I have a comp coming up this weekend at the Ritz Carlton. I walked from Horshose to the Ritz to check out the walk and inquire about parking. I was told that although my room is comped, parking is not, and it will be $28 to valet park. I plan on parking in the Horseshoe garage for free. However, the walk from the Horseshoe garage to the Ritz is not easy as their several blocks away. So it's best to drop off the bags and whoever else is staying in the room at the Ritz, park at the garage and walk without bags to the Ritz.
The Ritz Carlton is connected to the casino via Tower City but it's a bit of a walk. Not convenient if you want to go to your room and go back to the casino. There is a shorter route if you walk out of Tower City and cross the street to the casino.
TR display screen on the slots was odd. Usually on the Total Touch screen it displays reward credits earned that day, total rewards credits to date and tier score. Screens on these slots display Tier Score earned that day. It does not display reward credits earned. Maybe they are using Tier Score as lingo for rewards credits? It's confusing. I may inquire about it if I see a slot floor person.
Lines at the TR desks are long. There are two different desks. Tons of newbies signing up. I overheard many people asking each other how to play slots.
Employees I encountered, from valet to asking a question to a security guard, are super friendly. The place has a lot of energy.
Last, but not least, we both won playing slots. I was down for awhile as those 2 cent machines we're killing me. Then sat down at Jokers Heist and hit four bonus rounds in 10 minutes. Those along with a couple big win hits covered my losses and put me in the black. It was a 2 cent machine which helped.
