Hotel overbooking

I did go read th reviews you are talking about. I saw one dated march 10 where the reviewer was sent to Planet Hollywood. No indication in there as to when this actually happened. I don't know how often it happnens, as I saw only that one review that mentioned not getting a room. But if you are really worried about it, why don't you cancel your Caesars reservation and stay somewhere else? That seems like a better solution, to me, than actually worrying about it until you get there. I have never had this happen to me, and I have had about a dozen stays at Caesars. But the latest I have ever checked in was about 5:30 in the evening
I agree with KarenTN with regard to worrying about this. Overbooking happens all the time in the airline business, and to a lesser extent hotel business. Vegas hotels are all hugh; which also works to your advantage. If you do get 'walked' (the term of bumping from a hotel), most hotels are required to walk you to an 'equivalent' or better property; and cover the $$$ for at least the first night of the walk + transportation. Of course, most folks in Vegas are on comp'ed rooms; so the 'covering the night' doesn't really help. I believe that it is still rather unlikely you will be 'walked.' If it did happen, I would insist on a equivalent hotel like Bellagio, Encore, Venetian, Paris, Cosmo etc. etc. (and NOT Flamingo or Bally's). The ONLY time I witnessed it was at Stardust, and they were 'walking' guests to Bellagio. Of course, I was suite+RFB at Stardust; so they would never have considered 'walking' me --- though, I would have much-preferred a room/suite at Bellagio on a Stardust comp. :-)
I like to consider myself a VERY easing going guy...nothing rattles me. What is, is, why fight it...that said, I have a comped room for my parents at Caesar's next month for my wedding and I'd go bat-shit crazy (that's a medical term) if they bumped my parents!

Funny thing really, I have Fri, Sat & Sun night in a Palace Tower but they decided to come in on Thursday instead. So I called (this all happened yesterday [3/21] Caesar's Entertainment's reservation line and asked if I could extend my reservation stay out to a day earlier. The guy was very pleasant, he said that he'd be happy to comp an extra night (Thursday) but the first night will have to be in Roman Tower, as the Palace Tower is full on Thursday (4/14). I said, no problem, expressed my gratitude that he'd comp me an extra night (and when he asked if I was celebrating anything, I made sure to notify him of my pending nuptials). I'd imagine they log that in their system, no?

I hope you all keep us updated on this thread of your experiences.
Stayed at Caesars 3 times over the past 3 months, and never had a bump problem.
I always have a copy of my Conf# with me.........but usually don't need it.
They ask your Last name & look it up from there.
Sometimes rooms are already assigned to you, and other times can finagle a different one.

I've had the reservationist give me that Roman Tower line, didn't argue, and when I checked in got Augustus Tower just for the asking.

When you check in ask for the Palace Tower anyway and maybe you'll get it.

Never have been bumped. We usually arrive mid day.
Twice in the past year we have booked Palace Tower and gotten bumped. Once we went to Bellagio the other to Roman Tower (nice room). Both times was a Sat. arrival, so I think that is the problem. Now I book elsewhere for a Sat arrival.

DaveOKC
DaveOKC, what Tier level are you? I wonder if That has anything to do with it?

My last stay was late nite arrival on Sat nite, very busy, and still No bump.
Actually, got a better room. lol

I can't imagine being bumped to a different Hotel, and having to schlep my stuff OUT of there, elsewhere?
No way.
I spend too much time on the Vegas boards and have not seen the over booking problem come up.
Just an update as promised: I got my folks checked into Caesar's with ZERO problems. As a matter of fact, the guy at check-in even moved my folks from a Roman Tower room for the first time (which was all that was available when I went to reserve an extra night...see post below) to a Forum Tower and that's the room they were in the whole trip. My folks just loved it!

I made reservations for Caesars in July 2001 for Dec. 2001, and had to prepay for the first night. When I got there they said because I arrived so "late in the evening" (it was 9:30 pm LV time, 12:30 am my time) they said they had no non-smoking rooms available left (even though I had already paid for the first night) and I could either take a smoking room or a living room of a suite (in the Forum tower) with a pull-down Murphy bed. I was very unhappy, needless to say. I ended up taking the living room (the bed wasn't even made up when I got to the room) and switched rooms the next morning; that room wasn't really any better. I would have had a better room at the Gold Coast.
Then when I got home I discovered I was charged twice for that first night. I had to make a long-distance call on my dime to get it straightened out.
I sent a letter (a real letter) to the hotel manager after I got home, but the only reply I got back was "we don't guarantee non-smoking rooms."
I will never stay at Caesars in LV again, and have definitely told my story to several people going to LV warning them away from the place.
