Hotel overbooking

"I made reservations for Caesars in July 2001 for Dec. 2001, and had to prepay for the first night. When I got there they said because I arrived so "late in the evening" (it was 9:30 pm LV time, 12:30 am my time) they said they had no non-smoking rooms available left (even though I had already paid for the first night) and I could either take a smoking room or a living room of a suite (in the Forum tower) with a pull-down Murphy bed. I was very unhappy, needless to say. I ended up taking the living room (the bed wasn't even made up when I got to the room) and switched rooms the next morning; that room wasn't really any better. I would have had a better room at the Gold Coast.
Then when I got home I discovered I was charged twice for that first night. I had to make a long-distance call on my dime to get it straightened out.
I sent a letter (a real letter) to the hotel manager after I got home, but the only reply I got back was "we don't guarantee non-smoking rooms."
I will never stay at Caesars in LV again, and have definitely told my story to several people going to LV warning them away from the place. " lasvegasgambler

I think the more Recent reviews may be alittle more...............recent? lol
Many of us have stayed there multiple times without incident, and had better stays than expected.

Has Caesars Palace changed ownership twice in the last 10 years, or just once?

And do any hotels in LV have iron clad guarantees on smoking or non smoking rooms?

Wow. Based on that mode, lots of people would never be staying in certain places again. And for what? I mean, if you do not like the place fine. But because of being overbooked?

Geez. It happens.

Just amazing.

It's lasvegasgambler's choice to stay where s/he wants. I know another poster who had a bad experiences at Caesars and won't stay or gamble at CP.

A couple years ago, I had a billing issue, charged for something after I checked out of the hotel. I wrote a hard copy letter to the President of Caesars. It was sent to a hotel manager who fixed the problem, wrote me a reply and called to make sure everything was okay. I enjoy staying at Caesars.

Recently, I checked into RR after 11 pm and they did not have any non-smoking rooms left. They cheerfully offered to move me the next day and found a slightly upgraded room.

Just a note about smoke smell in rooms.
A couple years ago we were given a non-smoking room as requested.
Non-smoking floor.
But, when we walked in the room...blast...definite cigarette smoke odor.
Caught a housekeeper in the hallway. She said sometimes people disregard and smoke anyway in a non room.
She offered to get the "machine" to remove the smoke smell.
She assurred me it would "help."
I was skeptical but decided to try this..if it didn't work we'd ask for a change.
We didn't unpack, left the room for however long it took.
I can't remember exactly how long, one or two hours.

Was very surprised when we returned, no smoke odor at all.

This was at Bellagio.

So if you get smoking room, or a room with smoke smell, ask if they have one of those machines ro remove the smell.
Happened to me at Caesars 3 years ago.My host called me and said they were sticking me in Paris or Ballys as they were overbooked with convention business.
That was the day I swiched over to MGM properties and have not returned.
