Just got back from AC yesterday, and have some information to report on redeeming points.
It will proably be simmilar for Vegas, but this information is on AC.
In AC, there is a pier mall attached to Caesar that you can shop in.
First you have to exchange your points for a gift card. The trade is $300 in points = 150 gift card. You can get the gift card in the mall which I do not reccomend because they need to send someone from Ballys to issue the card which takes 20 minutes. It is better to get the card at the TR center in the casino assuming you know you want to use it at the pier shops.
However, you must be sure there is something in the mall you want, since once the exchange is made, it cannot be reversed. You can't give back the card, and ask for your points back.
The restaraunts in the mall are exchanging points dollar for dollar through December, as are most of the restaurants in the casinos and in house casino stores.
To exchange these points, just show your TR card and ID. You do not have to staying at a property to use the points this way. So it is not neccessary to charge your room. Although if you are staying in a property, that certainly is an option.
Yesterday my wife exchanged her points for $300 and my kid $150 that will be used to purchase an IPad 2 at the Apple store when I go back Dec 8.
I still have my 60,000 points.
This information might help some AC visitors. I think this procedure is in place for the mall in Vegas too.
