Is Diamond worth it?

My hubs is Diamond, and I am a low rolling Platinum. We have been lucky so far. He got 5 nights comped at Paris this Easter break, and I got 1 night.

For summer, he has a M-F comped, then the following F-M. (also at Paris)

Locally we play a little at Hammond (IN) Horseshoe. He gets an occasional offer, but I get nothing. We did the Greast Race last year, and both St. Louis and Southern Indiana love us both. It's just too far to make a five hour trip since I am still working.

The show tickets were a nice perk for our longer summer outings. I am going to miss the Platinum line in Vegas (it is gone from the TR website. ) Plat. NEVER meant much locally, but at least in Vegas I got a few more perks.

I'm not sure, I had 139 points last year, 59 point this year so far and I'm still getting offers and free rooms when I need them, but now for holiday weekends I have to pay or stay at IP for free. Interestingly enough I do still have a few offers that will give me a King room in Augustus or Octavius midweek only. My previous play was high but for 2011 and 2012 I haven't played that much. I will miss cutting the lines though but hopefully will have diamond friends there when I need them!
I managed to get me & hubby to Diam. last year. First time weve Both been Diam.
But so far, it hasn't been an advantage for us. I think One having Diam., is probably enough.

Funny you should mention Tahoe, Dave.
We keep getting our Best FP for Tahoe. So been adding a Tahoe detour on our way to Reno
these days, to take advantage of it.
Also, I really like the Harveys DL & hubby loves the recliners in there for watching a game.

We seem to be making up for lost time hitting Tahoe again. lol
Now if the weather cooperates.........is another story.......
Diamond is still worth it to me.
Us East Coasters get a Diamond Renewal coupons book yearly- worth $600.00.
Mostly $50.00 coupons to every place to eat (You don't need to buy anything else)and $50 towards the Spa, etc..
Us ECLVAers get together and swap as i don't need Harrah's Marina food, or any food come to think about it- and they don't need Spa... We love swapping.
Cutting lines everywhere is heaven for me... I hate waiting more than the average person.
Standing in line brings great big juicey loud swear words out of me.

It's worth it to me.. you can get a swanky suite on off nights- like a huge pimped out 1970s mirror over the bed and jacuzzi 2 door all out HR suite in A.C. being diamond and chatting a checkinling up.

I think our play is worth less everywhere.

Even with perks going down, the benefits for me are good. I dispise waiting in line, especially to check into a hotel. I don't require the DL to feed me a complete meal, I have plenty of points to eat elsewhere, I just like a drink and a snack. The most important aspects for me are comped rooms and no lines. Those benefits are still there, at least for now.

Hate losing the free show tix.

A couple of years ago, my local play was Ameristar STL, which did nothing at all for me in LV. Plus I was offered 2 comped nights per month. For the same play at Harrahs STL, I can get any night I want comped in STL AND it opened the door for great LV comps. So i didn't change my level of play for diamond, I changed the venue and it has paid off in spades for me. I've stayed at least 40 comped nights in LV since, and in nice properties on the strip!

So, of course I'd like to have MORE benefits rather than less, but since I'm going to play anyway, I'll be a diamond for years to come.

noahcat - savor that Diamond Renewal book -- I got $25.00 FP for mine. Vegas is our "home" market and things are starting to look a little bleak. It figures, just when I boosted up to Diamond the percs have dried up...I do have to say that we still have good availability for rooms in Vegas though. Sadly, none of the other markets are showing much in the way of comps. Even though we stayed in NOLA and Tahoe last summer, the calendar is not looking great and no week-ends at all in AC. Boo-hoo...
