Is The Flamingo as bad as all that?

Wow we go LV every year but are not big gamblers so we pay for rooms. With the LVA promo codes we can go to Ballys our usual place (5 nights total apx 360)...seen that Flamingo codes same days 275.....problem is all talk on blogs is how awful wait to check in and rooms not made up till late in day. for the 100 should we stay at Ballys love the pool but spa rates are little higher at ballys. Can the cool Flamingo of old be all that bad? THANKS BUNCHES
We stayed at Flamingo for one trip, in the old rooms. (Hubby stayed in a GO room another time, which was really nice). I don't remember any big issues--I wasn't expecting the Augustus Tower at Caesar's, so it was fine.

The pool area is very nice, but very crowded. There were lots of kids, too.

I don't care for the restaurants at Flamingo, other than Margaritaville.

The casino doesn't seem to have very many of my favorite slots. It all depends on the gambler.

I have a room from 3/10 out on 3/13 for 250.00 I was happy just lowered to 140.00, now will try for a GO room. Had that type last summer and loved it
IMO, Bally's is nicer than Flamingo regular rooms by far. The difference is only $85 for the 3 nights. If you like Bally's and the $85 won't take too much of your vacation budget, stay at Bally's.

I've only stayed at the Flamingo one time and my main complaint was the long walk from the elevator to the room.Could have used a golf cart.lol.The place is huge. The room was not Bellagio/Caesars fancy, but nice for the money.
We have had bad room experiences that last two times we stayed at Flamingo (within the past year). Dirty, worn out carpeting, lamps with torn lamp shades (or no lamp shades at all), chipped furniture. We didn't complain either time, however, since it was a late arrival/check-in and we were leaving the next morning for comped rooms at other properties.

From what I understand the GO rooms are nothing like the "deluxe" rooms. GO rooms have modern decor and are superior. If you can get a GO room at a decent price go for it. if not, I suggest you stick with Bally's.

GO room is just redone in mod decor. Kinda cool, nothing to get excited about, still small. I find Ballys north tower rooms to be much nicer. We found Flamingo grimy, pool crowded w/ kids & fishy. Casino is gaudy but has a great bank of .05VP machines I couldn't lose on last trip!
Ballys is our usually comped HET property to stay at. We love CP, but haven't seen that comped recently. Finally found PH, but not sure gonna make it for those dates...
Would I stay in Flamingo again...ONLY if Harrahs or Ballys wasn't available comped.
I stayed at the flamingo last year for the first time and had some concerns also, after reading some negative posts. I was very happy with my stay! Check in was quick and easy (must of hit it right) Yes the room was a little worn, but not bad. Request a room close to the elevators! I had read a post where someone stated that the Flamingo has the longest hallways in Las Vegas! Also used the Valet most of the time and it was convient to my tower. What is nice about the flamingo is the garden area. I had not really been back to this area and it was nice, great place to take pictures. Also, the bugsy segal statue is interesting to me (I wonder who places the rose their every week?). The pool is very nice, but I stayed in Oct and that's a little too cold for me, but people were laying out! I did enjoy the spa and thought the staff was very nice. Another reason I wanted to stay was to see Donnie and Marie! I thought this was a great show. I went to the box office and tickets were $120 each for the balcony, so I walked next door to O'sheas to the ticket outlet and bought two tickets for $120. It was a great show and If you are in the front of the balcony the seats are good! I would not hesitate to stay at the Flamingo again!

I've stayed at the Flamingo and the rooms are OK the did a remodel several years ago on some of the deluxe rooms but the decorator must have been on drugs. I usually ask for an "064" room. I never get it since it would be in the front of the hotel with strip views. But, they do usually put me on the other side of the all with garden views. The point is that hallway is between the elevator banks near the check in area and the banks down by the restaurants and buffet. This way you can easily access the room from either bank without having to walk a mile. Years ago my mother went on a trip and had a handicap room that was in the wing along the side street by Margarita ville. What a hike, fortunately she had one of those senior on the go electric carts. Good luck.
One word - UGH - stay at Ballys - much better rooms and customer service if you have a problem....
