Is The Flamingo as bad as all that?

Do not bother staying there is all you can get is the Deluxe Room. The GO rooms are the only way to go. We've never stayed at Bally's to compare the rooms, though.

As far as gambling goes, we haven't won at the Flamingo the last few trips there.
While I have never stayed at Ballys, the last time I stayed at the Flamingo, which was quite a few years ago. We had a Go room and when we got there, the pillows had no pillow cases, so I called housekeeping. About 15 minutes later there was a knock at the door, I was expecting new pillows, I was handed pillow cases. If I want to put pillow cases on pillows I would stay home. I don't expect to have to do housekeeping's job when I am on vacation. Like I said it was the last time I stayed at the Flamingo. Since I pretty much get free rooms, I have my pick and the Flamingo is never one I would consider again. I would pay at another hotel before I would stay the Flamingo.

We stayed at the Flamingo over labor day last year. It was better than I thought it would be. We booked a standard room and I guess got upgrated to a larger, kind of a mini-suite room at check-in. Like someone already mentioned, the only drawback for us was the long walk to the rooms.
My wife and I stayed at the Flamingo several times, twice with a standard room and once with the "GO"room. Needless to say the GO was much better, but the standard room was ok too. The staff was extremely friendly.

Just spent 4 nights in a deluxe room, 2/28-3/3. Room was comped did not pay the $40 a night upcharge for a Go room. Room 14044 was a double bed non smoking room overlooking Bills. Room was worn but clean. Flamingo seemed busy. Gambling was good. restaurants average, staff friendly. Overall a good experience, considering that I had just spent 2 nights at the Cosmopolitan which was fantastic. Room overlooking the Bellagio fountains.
I think it stinks. However the smell at V/P never has bothered me and it is MUCH stronger. May not smell to you at all.
I would chose Ballys or Harrahs over Flamingo or even Paris. These are my normal choices for an easy comp.
I don't mind Flamingo. Stayed once with a little worn furniture............thought it was bad until I stayed once at Sahara with really beat up furniture. Somehow it never bothered me much. Don't go to Vegas to hang in room. I don't look that close sometimes. The bed is OK, I can plug in coffee maker, toilet flushes, shower works........OK with me. Not too awfully fussy. And Linda, if you ever need company on the way to Vegas and help with gas money, email me!!!!
ok GollyGal. I am going April 3rd, solo, bought a plane tkt already.
Give out a shout or pm when you are planning a trip.
I might check the prices of some other places (even without the promo codes). I bet you can get something in that same range. The best quality of both the places you listed is the location. I would prefer a place like Luxor which has a much bigger pool area and I bet the price is pretty close to what you are looking at.
Great location, great pools, great garden, good and inexpensive buffet, inexpensive rooms, total rewards, nice desk clerks, legendary history, no pretentions, friendly prostitutes. The Flamingo IS Vegas.
